Why leave a bad review if you had one bad experience that one time, when other times they were great? Name one restaurant that's faultless.

Anyway fantastic chippy, one of the best in Cheltenham, been here a few times in the past as heard great things and they've been nominated and won a few awards. Only had a few issues in the past but it happens and usually the staff are great and if you speak to someone before complaining/ leaving a review you might actually get it resolved instead of giving such a good bunch of people a bad reputation

The most amazing Gluten Free Fish & Chips in the world!

Everything GF last Monday of the month - takeaway & eat in.

Love it and look forward to going every month.

User

Rarely buy take away food but do occasionally buy fish & chips from Simpsons. It's not a cheap takeaway (if you want that go to McDonalds) but it is very tasty. I think the quality did drop for a while a year or so back but back to five star now for me. Certainly you'd find it difficult to find a better chip shop in Cheltenham and its surrounds. Good service too - nice to see young people working hard with a smile on their face.

User

My husband is very fussy with fish and chips however he's been going on about getting a Simpson's from Cheltenham since we tried a takeaway from the Stroud shop a few months back. We were not disappointed, we were served by Daisy who was really accommodating and very friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

User

Lovely light batter, fresh tasting fish and generous chip portions. Yummy!

User

Have to say these guys get customer service! Ordered from Deliveroo which sadly never turned up (not Simpsons fault). I was at my witts end as Deliveroo had hung up on me twice, the lovely girl I spoke to was so sympathetic and offered to call Deliveroo for me and sort something out.

Still waiting for it to arrive but if the food is as good as their service it shall be great.

Simpsons 5*

Deliveroo, not even worth your time!

User

Best fish and chips we’ve had in years! 😀

User

We have used Simpsons for years, we never eat takeaways and get fish and chips as a treat now and then so it is something we really look forward to and I have to say I was unusually dissatisfied this evening. Fish was nice and fresh but the chips - well below your usual standard, dry and really quite stale tasting. I won't use anywhere else but it has put me off for a while.

User

We ate in the restaurant, whilst the food was pretty good and we weren't disappointed with the deep fried cream eggs - very indulgent ! I'm afraid the waiter service leaves a lot to be desired, young lads with clearly no training totally unaware of what they should be doing. Had to keep asking on separate occasions for cutlery, condiments, table to be cleaned, drinks, desserts, basically no idea at all of waiting on tables. Be good if they could have some training to be fair to them, otherwise good food and well cooked.

User

Took 20 mins for one adult and one child's meal, at a quiet time. I saw my fish given to someone else, and the conversation of "Where's my fish for the order with the kids meal? What fish?" happen in front of me. A, "sorry we've accidentally messed up the order" would have been fine. My 2 year old was getting a bit stroppy, rightfully so, she'd seen her order on the counter, got excited, and then saw it taken away! I only went in as thought it would be an in and out job. Even ten mins would have been alright.

Food was okay. Can tell the ingredients are good, and there was a bit of deep fried chicken bone with the cod. Being completely impartial, in terms of taste, and the hype. Maybe I just don't "get it".

I love my area, so glad that the business puts so much into the community etc, and great to see a local business thriving, so we'll done for that. But would I return. No. Unfortunately not. I guess you can't please everyone!

User

Simpsons.... putting the fast back into fast food! Just waited 20+ mins for sausage & chips and kids fish +chips .... 3 min drive home and there cold! Thanks! Time of order 5.28pm time if review 6.09pm Took temp of chips as soon as realised cold 42 deg C sausage a little better.... kids F&C the same.... poor show!

User

Well I think I can safely say it's the most expensive and stingy chippy IVE ever bin to . I've been there once before prior to today and only had a regular chips they were yummy however so small it was the first time I actually thought wow I've gone to the chippy and I'm still hungry even though the food had gone but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back there today must be the first time that the whole family has eaten their entire plates with no leftovers and still wanting more. A large chips in this chip shop is the equivalent to a small trips anywhere else and they are the most expensive yes the food is yummy however for the price it's just not justified for my second visit to the Simpsons chip shop unfortunately it will deafly be my last there are exactly the same chippies around that does just as yummy fish. Without the extortionate price tag normally I go to chip shop with my family and we have at least a few chips left possibly a bite of a sausage and some fish cake that the dog can have the scraps from lol but no literally plates licked clean and still wanting more food very disappointing it came to £24.50 and we are still hungry how do you work that out from any chippy

User

Been to Simpson several times before and paid a bit extra and it was worth it, food tasted amazing. Very disappointed tonight, order 145 spent over £25 and Ben's fish didn't look large, no lemon with any of the 3 fish, if there was salt and vinegar on them it must of been just on 1 chip cuz I couldn't taste it. Daves fish was in the shape of an eel (long and thin) should have been large and he said it was dry and very bland. Are they going down hill? Don't want to spend over the odds and be let down again!

User

Went I last night about 8 pm and got 2 cod and chips and tried the scampi. Something like £4 for 4 very small pieces of scampi. Scampi very nice but won't do that again!! Also fish had no taste son just put tomatoe sauce all over it, I however threw mine away. The chips were tiny could of eaten them with a teaspoon and about a handful! This meal cost £17.00 !!!!! Was awful I always get fish & chips here on way home but won't be doing that again. What's happening it used to be amazing!!!

User

Service seems to get worse every time I walk in, 35 minutes between ordering my meal and actually getting is taking the piss a bit especially since it wasn't that busy and it wasn't that big an order

User

Have used Simpsons for a while now as they offer a Gluten Free night once a month and being a coeliac this is wonderful. Used to be very good last year but the last couple of times have been dreadful however. I fear they are going downhill and definitely do not deserve the status of ' No 1 Fish and Chip shop in England' based on our last two visits.

Last time we spent over £30 and three out of our four potions of fish were literally nothing but batter! Complained and was promised discount..... to then receive a very ungenerous 10% off our next order!

Tonight was even worse. Just ordered two portions of chips with salt and vinegar - got home and something had gone wrong obviously. They were covered in so much salt it looked like someone had spilt the shaker on them or salted them twice by mistake. Had to throw them away they were so bad, much to the disappointment of our 2 young children.

I didn't even bother complaining this time as will no doubt be offered a measly 10% or something off our next visit again. Will not be going there again. :-(

User

Had simpsons alot but it has been getting worse and tonight was by far the worse we have ever had from the take away the chips were rock solid and upon waiting 15 minutes for a sausage to be cooked which I don't mind I prefer fresh but how long had the chips been thier cos they were hard enough to keep me back door open in this wind! The service seems to be getting worse everyone just chatting when food is ready to go I must ad though the pie I had and gravy was a great pie just a shame the chips and staff let it down will I bother coming back again probs not for those prices no award winning from me!!

User

Disappointing from start to finish, half an hour wait for 2 burgers and chips, everything was overcooked, chicken inside the bun was very dry and tiny so thanks for several mouthfuls of bread!

Very busy on a Sunday due to being the only chippy open but they can't cope with the demand atall despite a few members of staff aimlessly looking around with nothing to do.

Even after half an hour I left before people that were there when I arrived!

Think I will change my takeout night to Saturdays and go to Big Fish on bath road instead.

User

Allways though highly of simpsons visited tonight after some time , ordered my usuall , chips covered in bits of skin and black never had that before they was allways clean and then the chicken burger what used to be battered fresh chicken fillet been replaced with a cheap frozen cooked one £5 !!! For this (still on menu as bartered chicken breast)

Very disappointed to say the least and that's me done now won't be visiting again £22 wasted in my eyes , you've let your self go in the last few months

User
