The Season of Lamb!
Simpson's work very closely with its butcher to source only the finest British meat and the lamb is no exception, coming from the lush Welsh valleys. We are the only chop house to serve a chump chop on the bone which adds extra flavour when cooked. We also have a 3 hour slow braised lamb shank on the menu watch the meat just falls off the bone.

When in London, this is a must for me. Great service, food, and drinks.

User

Walked in off the street. Accommodated us without question even with a small child. Food was out of this world. Service was best ever and a step above anything ever experienced. The gentleman greeter on the door .. what can I say .... was in a class of his own that far exceeds that of anyone else I've come across to date. Didn't have the resources to adequately compensate for superior service. All I can do is tell you all how fantastic Simpsons Tavern is and even more how awesome the gentleman greeter is ( sorry I didn't catch your name) we won't leave it quite so long till we are back next time xxx. Thank you so very very much

My second visit in 8 years so I'm hardly a regular. However, Simpsons is quite simply in a class of one.

The quality of the food is superb, the portion size is generous, the prices very reasonable for central London, but best of all is the service.

The greeter can only be described as a typically ebullient Englishman. Very polite, very cheery and couldn't do enough to help us - more later. My wife uses crutches and he offered to take us through his neighbour so that she could use the lift.

The waiting staff are equally helpful - my wife asked for a coffee, so the waiter put a fresh pot on. My wife just wanted some "sides" to eat, again no problem.

My grandson was amazed by the decor and the size of his roast beef slices. My Edwardian chop must have registered on the Richter Scale when it was put on my plate.

By the time we'd finished, 2 mains - with an optional Cumberland sausage on my plate, 4 sides, 2 coffees, 2 apple juices and 2 pints of ale, the bill, including service, was £67. The waiter even threw in a free pint of ale as it was our wedding anniversary.

Afterwards, I asked to see the greeter, Ben to thank him for another great experience. He continued the excellent service. He asked where we were going to next, and showed us personally, a shorter route. He banged on the door of the George and Vulture so that we could see inside the pub mention by Charles Dickens 20-some times in"The Pickwick Papers".

If you want truly traditional food in the heart of the capital, I can not recommend Simpsons enough.

User

User

Fabulous staff and food!! Not a quiet place to eat but that is part of the attraction!!

We have been coming here in a similar group for a Christmas meal since 1992, year in year out. The food and experience remain excellent although on occasion the meat is less cooked than asked for. It is a very busy lunch service so it's not uncommon and may recommend ordering slightly more well done than you usually would. It remains very good value but no longer exceptional. Over the last years feels more corporate than it used to which is a shame but also possibly the modern way of things. Watch out for the £35 no show per guest charge within 48hrs before the booking! The bar used to open at 11 it's now 12 if planning a drink ahead and there is also a 2 hour limit on the table. A couple of constants are the unique stewed cheese and the friendless of the staff. 8.5/10 - in years passed it was 10/10.
