Now in our second week of self-isolation, maybe still struggling to settle in to some sort of a routine, keeping our brains active and not succumbing to cabin fever! Working from home brings its own challenges, interruptions or distractions every 10mins from family members, home schooling, and the chant we all dread what's for dinner!!!!
... Wanted to share friend and colleague Natasha gave some tips in this article for the Metro.
Hope it helps! Stay Safe❤️

I appreciate there is so much information out there at the moment across, TV, Online, and WhatsApp groups. But I felt I should share as it has a number of useful links that may prove helpful over the coming weeks. And some organisation will need to be put in place maybe create a timetable for the day/ week so everyone knows what they are doing. I know some people are looking forward to this uninterrupted time together and adjusting to the necessity of being socially distant a...nd others are truly anxious. But maybe we can look at this time as an opportunity to pause our life just for a bit to become more observant and mindful and in short appreciate our immediate surrounding, going for walks or having a mooch in the garden. Also consider how we can be proactive over the next couple of weeks and the things we have control of simple things like our hygiene, staying connected to others via tech, our attitude, and our choice to help others around us. In short this challenge we have been set to home learn, maybe we can offer a different take on learning they haven’t come across before. Like virtual tour of the globe, or listening to radio stations all over the world, learning Spanish together, or going on you tube together!

http://bit.do/fpZiQ Losing it! Our mental health crisis. Must see documentary series on Channel 4
It's aim is to shine a light on the rising demand on front line mental health services and gives a true to life view of mental illness. A must see as it gives us the viewers a glimpse of what support is available and the great work that is been done to support people in very vulnerable situations. But most importantly the shift in mental health services which is now so much more human.

I attending a mental health conference this week and felt so humbled by many of the speakers who came along to tell their story of "Recovery to Discovery". This video I feel embraced a lot of what we covered on the day, WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY OCTOBER 10,2019. The goal is to help raise mental health awareness. THE FOCUS IS ON SUICIDE PREVENTION. Each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people dealing with problems concerning mental health can live better lives with a sense of self-worth and empowerment.

Self care is not selfish care. It is a gift to you and everyone who matters in your life. #selfcare #wellbeing

Such a brave step to take, but a little saddened to hear he describes himself as a ‘lifelong body hater’.
Its realising that another way of living is possible if you have the right support. It is so important to realise that other people are going through this, to feel seen, heard and understood, and to know that eating disorders do not have to define how – or who – you are.

https://urlzs.com/mNJ3u This is one thing I struggle with, but ironically I find myself saying it a lot within my family especially my son, as he has just started in a new school, it’s easiest to just go with the flow for a while, and see what people are like.
Think wise & choose wisely which way to go😀

Great interview with Lucy Nichol author of " A series of Unfortunate Stereotypes" https://bit.ly/2uCya2G #books #mentalhealthbooks#
In A Series of Unfortunate Stereotypes, Lucy explores the different lenses through which she and other people have viewed her mental health problems. She tackles a number of different stereotypes placed on people living with mental illness, including the idea that they are narcissists, hypochondriacs, and psychos. After writing a blog post abo...ut her journey, Lucy realised that she wasn’t alone in feeling this way. And so she began to talk more about her experience, eventually becoming a columnist in Sarah Millican’s magazine Standard Issue. In writing about her life in such an open way, Lucy has been able to claw herself back from the grips of her anxiety. A Series of Unfortunate Stereotypes is one of the most fortunate things you could read!

Why your negative emotions are not problems needing to be solved. Really interesting piece looking at acceptance and curiosity around your emotions which in turn changes your response to bury unpleasant feelings. #wellbeing #mentalhealth

Read a really fantastic interview in Happiful Magazine with Mara Wilson (she was the main character in Mrs Doubtfire and Matilda) left acting age13 and is now a Writer and Activist. At the age of 8 she realised she had OCD tendencies, but didn't realise it was OCD and didn't tell anyone as they would say she was crazy.
Then she read Kissing Doorknobs aged 12, this book allowed her to feel normal and not feel like she was alone Have a look at interview here: https://bit.ly/2DDzfN1
