This wonderful photo from our very own warden, Ray, really captures the essence of Skelwith Fold's cohesion with nature and the area's inhabitants. Thanks Ray!

FRIDAY 6AM UPDATE: Northbound M6 reopened earlier this morning. Southbound expected to be reopening at some point later in the day. Good news for everyone on their way to the Lakes. Not so great for everyone on their way home.
TRAVEL UPDATE: M6 CLOSURE WHICH MAY AFFECT YOUR JOURNEY TO SKELWITH FOLD The M6 (at time of this post) is closed in both directions between Junctions 32 (Broughton) and 33 (Galgate/Lancaster South). This is due to an HGV having collided with a bridge ar...ound 8am this morning. The bridge has now been deemed unsafe and assessment work is continuing so the closure is likely to be in place for some time.
You may wish to plan an alternative route if you were going to drive up this section of the M6. Diversions are in place so that northbound traffic will be taken off at Junction 32 and Southbound at Junction 33. As a result, the A6 and surrounding routes are likely to be heavily congested so please consider whether you can delay your journey or avoid the area completely.
We have been informed the motorway should be reopening sometime on Friday but at this time we do not know when exactly that will be.
Kind regards, The Skelwith Fold Team.

lovely site, which we didn't even know was there, came on last day before it closed for the season, toilets exceptional and lovely and warm, shop well stocked even though it was closing, we have already booked for next year, looking forward to nice long walks well done skelwith

User

We visit at least once a year & love the site, it's immaculately clean, the staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. It's location is perfect & the rules of the site are enforced (noise etc). Always sad to leave but will always return

User

We stayed in one of your Hideaways, and we quite honestly cannot fault one single thing! If we would have known the extent of your site (aka walks, woods and surrounding areas) we wouldn’t have left the site. I don’t want to go on about how absolutely AMAZING our stay was as I want more and more people to go and enjoy themselves in your hideaway lodges. All I will say is the bubbles on arrival were very welcomed thanks you, millions times over. 10000% be back.

User

We love it here. We particularly like the fact that you can leave your car on site and walk everywhere. Great facilities. Good pitches and helpful staff. Well stocked shop and amazing scenery and wild life. Brilliant pubs, bars, restaurants withIn a 30 minute walk.! Try the walk up Loughrigg Fell and down into town or the walkers ticket on the lake after walking down to the pier and hopping on the bus back up.! We're back again in October. See you then Skelwith Fold . 🤗

User

We have just got back from a weekend in the new safari tents and it was as wonderful as ever; clean, family focused super comfortable in the most picturesque location. We were so sad when we sold our van as Skelwith Fold was the first site we brought our first caravan to 8 years ago and we think it’s the best! We can now enjoy the site again with our family and were over the moon.

User

Warm and cozy with a stuff available for any occasion. Scenery and wonderful views. Up to 5 stars especially for welcome dogs. I'm Italian and dogs are abolished everywhere and often for stupidity they abandon them. Being there and seeing them happy with their masters is great. They too deserve a holiday!

User

Thankyou for a wonderful Easter weekend. Me and my family enjoyed a lovely relaxing break in such beautiful surroundings. We was made very welcome by all staff and visitors. We had lots of fun making Easter bonnets , egg decorating and finding the sammys.

User

Our first visit this weekend and loved it. Spotlessly clean and picturesque. Couldn't rate it highly enough.

We will all be definitely visiting again.

If anyone is going in to am Ambleside or needs a taxi use amber. Fantastic service.

User

Lovely, immaculate site set in tranquil woodland. Great facilities well stocked shop and very friendly staff. Only downside is some of the pitches are tight. Our unit is a twin axel, 390 awning and Nissan Navara, thankfully motor home next to us. Would I come back definitively yes.

User

Lovely site, stayed on a premium pitch which are well worth the extra as they are huge and well thought out!! You can't hear anything but the sounds of the wildlife, a woodpecker was particularly entertaining to our daughter!! Shop is well stocked and fairly priced! Only slight downside is that with a little child it's not an ideal walk to Ambleside especially in the weather we had! We did catch a bus but at £9 we did think it was a little excessive for a 5 mins journey! (Not the fault of the site of course!) Would highly recommend wray castle, we had a picnic on the beach there which was fantastic! We mentioned the deers to our daughter on the first day and everyday she asked to see one, and we couldn't believe our luck that as we were leaving the park on our last day we saw a deer run up the bank! It was all she talked about on the way home! X

User

Just spent 3 nights here and I will be returning, even though the campsite was full, it was so peaceful. The showers are spotless, nice and hot too! One of the best I've stayed at, didn't want to come home!

User

Just got back from an amazing weekend at Skelwith Fold using their new Safari Tents which have just been opened to the public.

Fantastic idea, and we had such a great time.

Will definitely use these again.

User

Had a wonderful time here. Stayed on a premium pitch for 3 nights. Staff were lovely, shop is well equipped, surrounding area is beautiful with plenty of walks for the dog. There is also a few deer around. We saw three deer and were over the moon. Strongly recommend and will definitely come back!

User

Great site. Lots of walking without having to drive. My mobile wouldn’t work on the Wi fi Works without though. T v wouldn’t work either. Maybe it’s me?

User

Gorgeous place. Stayed in a hide away and loved every second. Will be back for sure.

User

First time here and we love it we will defiantly be back the place is like a small village everywhere you go there is a row of caravans you think oh no too big but it isn't we hardly saw anyone .... There is a launderett with a dry room excellent idea the toilets and showers are spotless and clean there is a library there is green grass pitches are huge and to top it off the staff are lovely people very friendly and the warden is brilliant we give 10 out of 10 just fab and my dogs loved it also xx

User

User

1st of March and we're back for the 1st day of the season at our beloved Skelwith Fold.1st walk around the Tarn & we saw 7 red deer (most heavily pregnant) eyeing us up before moving off past the caravans. A lovely welcome back .
