What a fantastic place ,wonder staff couldn’t do enough for you .Lovely quaint building. We celebrated my nephews girlfriends baby shower today.

Food was amazing so much of it and choice Absolutely fantastic with children’s food all ages would 100% recommend and will be going back again for a meal x

Went to the Skewer House last night for my birthday. The food was amazing and the service was great. Thank you to the waitress for my birthday dessert and singing Happy Birthday. Love this place more and more every time I go �

Went out to celebrate my sisters birthdays with my family. 6 of us ate. Rib eye steak was so huge that the other half of it got taken home! Food delicious as usual, and Hugo sent out sparklers in the desserts and cocktails for each of the birthday girls. Nice little touch and a lovely gesture. Polite and friendly staff. All in all another lovely meal at this place. Will definitely be returning!

We where here last night for my sons birthday, we sat in the garden which felt like we where on Holiday, it has a relaxed atmosphere and the food was amazing. This is such a Little Gem.

We went there on Friday night and the service is just amazing, the food is just fabulous and the staff are so good,your a credit to the place.

And value for my is Exceptional, best to say we will be back xxx

We booked a table last night. So glad we did. The place is tiny. But the close tables just add to the fun. This is not high service haute cuisine it is what it is. The two girls serving were charming. We ordered the special with an extra Skewer of Chicken and Chorizo between us. Starters. Bread and olives were lovely. The flaming Chorizo is dramatic. Mains and sides. Lamb was great chicken was amazing. Dessert we shared. All great. Best bit we got all of this with a litre of Sangria for £48 brilliant. We could of actually got away with the single skewer but would have missed out on the amazing chicken.

Visited yesterday for my parents golden wedding anniversary. It was my first visit, so was a little concerned that out was expensive as I envisioned a small skewer of meat.



I couldn't have more wrong. The flat bread was the nicest garlic bread I've EVER had (and I eat a lot of garlic bread). The skewers were lovely, the chorizo was also lovely.



I forgot to order a beer so cannot comment on the beer selection :)



All in all a lovely meal, service a little slow, but nothing to really bother me. I want there for speed.



Seriously it's worth a visit just for the Flat Bread !

I love the food x the ambience and the staff are lovely to x I just love the skewers x the garlic flat bread and desserts all home made x lunch time is great too such a well priced menu x once inside you feel like your on holiday in Portugal 🇵🇹 x Hugo (the owner) Is so welcoming and always so pleasant x this restaurant in rochford has had many different themes n food before but since Hugo opened as skewer house it's the best it's ever been xx

Our first time at the skewer house last night for our anniversary, food was absolutely amazing, staff were lovely, came out far to wonky for a Monday, cocktails were delicious � we will definitely be back again x

My daughter booked a table on Monday night (20/11/17) as she had been raving about the Skewer House. Very quaint little restaurant, service is very good and to top it all lovely staff. The food was absolutely amazing, lamb, prawn & lobster skewers the portions are enormous, sides & flat breads are ample we tried the house special and we came out of there stuffed. We even had a little take home box. Will I be returning again yes most definitely we had a lovely enjoyable evening , great company, good food, great music and lovely ambience 👌 perfect for a Monday evening.

First time there for lunch food very good I had the butterfly chicken with a giant king prawn which was huge, with delicious deep fried maize, salad and chips.

The chips were a little disappointing but the rest was really good.

My husband and son had the sirloin skewer with Maize salad and chips, which again the chips were disappointing.

But all in all we will definitely be going back x

First experience of the restaurant and had a thoroughly enjoyable and lovely meal. The staff were very pleasant, though the service wasn't the quickest I've had in a restaurant, but they were busy. However, on a positive side, we didn't feel rushed to finish our meals and leave, that feeling you normally get from other restaurants.



Looking forward to our next meal and will definitely be returning.

Amazing....food was absolutely spot on. Could not fault it. 4 of us ate. We had the fish skewer, king prawn & squid skewer, chicken & chorizo cooked spicy skewer and lamb skewer. 2 sides each - spicy rice and sauted potatoes were gorgeous along with chips with skins and salad. Portuguese Rum cocktail was very nice too. The bill was very reasonable. Staff were friendly and explained tve menu. Great little find. Will definitely be going back for more. X

The food was fabulous spot on! Great atmosphere in there too! The only reason I've put a 4* is that I went with my partner for date night and you are literally sitting with the people next to you. We happened to chat to through out our meal as they were really lovely. But you might not always be that lucky.

Apart from that had a lovely evening there thank you 😋

Been here several times before and usually the food is fantastic that I can forgive the slow service (which is why I'm still giving it a 3 from past experience). However last night was a bit different so I'm disappointed to be writing this. We went for my friend's birthday and I had booked a table, it was busy but that was to be expected for a Friday night. We ordered our food which was fine again a bit slow...the starters came out which were not as good as previous visits. Then we had 3 skewers: 1 chicken, 1 lamb and a chicken and chorizo, along with a few sides. The potatoes again were not as good as previous visits, but the worst part was the chicken. It wasn't very nice and my friend picked apart her chicken and left it on the plate as she was unsure about it, in fact one of the waiters walked past and looked at it when the table was being cleared and said to us 'was that chicken ok as it looks really pink!' We were a bit unsure but when a waiter points out that the chicken looks too pink it isn't exactly great. We did order dessert as it came with our house special but ended up going straight home as my friend was a bit panicked that she had potentially eaten undercooked chicken. Sad to say this visit wasn't particularly great and that kind of ruined the rest of our night.

As two ladies have posted today, my sister and I took my dad and step mum to the Skewer House this afternoon for a meal for Father's Day after my dad had previously had a lovely meal there with great service! Unfortunately, we couldn't say the same about the service today. The food was beautiful but the service was very slow and we were in there for nearly 3 hours and in the end, we were close to not bothering with a dessert (which came with the meal deal) because it was taking so long to be served. It is such a shame as the food was so lovely but the service was so slow. I would return simply for the food but if the service was that slow again, I would re-consider returning.
