We had a great time in mid-August.... celebrating the achievements and subsequent confirmed destinations of our outgoing Year 13 students.
At the time, our principal Tim Clark said “Our new sixth form is going from strength to strength and we are pleased that the hard work and persistence of our Year 13s has resulted in progression onto some excellent UK universities, with some students having started quality apprenticeships. We wish them all the best for the future and encou...rage them to keep in touch. Some are already lined up to attend our careers fair in the autumn, to encourage current students to continue to ‘be the best they can’.”

If you are or if you know any Year 11 pupils who are considering their post-16 options, do diarise Wednesday 21 November at 5pm for our sixth form open evening...

In recent times, we have had a number of our students progress from Skinners' Academy and onto apprenticeships. In an article in Spring 2018, Pete Henshaw of SecEd magazine talks about how some students are missing out on apprenticeships due to negative stereotypes. Don't let that be you. Always do solid research into any potential apprenticeships and where they may lead - and remember they can be an excellent option (and university can happen before, at the same time or after, dependent on what sort of apprenticeship you are applying for)

Let's reconnect! It's been awhile since we've posted here on Facebook so we'll share some highlights that you may have missed but should also take this opportunity to remind you that you can also download the Academy app.
The way to access the app may be changing before the end of 2018 but more information about that will follow. For now, you can find information about how to download it here - http://www.skinnersacademy.org.uk/skinner s-academy-app/

Here's a great article courtesy of The Telegraph where Tinie Tempah talks about his career ambition to be an accountant, not a rapper. An interesting read! What useful information / advice have you picked up from reading this article? http://bit.ly/tinieaccountant

We came across an interesting article via icould from last year about the founder of Whatsapp and shared it with the Year 10s to Year 12s as they may also find his tale of resilience interesting. Feel free to have a look at the article here- and let us know if it had some useful lessons about resilience for you. http://icould…/article/inspiring-storie s-whatsapps-jan-koum/
