We are in the news again today talking about taking card payments. Who is worst hit by the decline in cash? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48122471

User

Went last night for the first time since they opened the doors after a major refurb.

Have to say it looks amazing.

Yes there are some finishing off todo which I'm sure will be completed very soon but the shop was well run, clean and the langoustines I had were out of the world. I'll be back very soon.

User

Went for sausage and chips with curry sauce , was yummy probably the best in the area

User

We had skippers for outside catering for a party off 85 they where amazing and very reasonably priced thanks for five star service

User

Thoroughly enjoyed our fish supper. Fish is the nicest we've had, pure white melt in the mouth cod with crispy batter. Grandad cleared his plate. We will be back!! Cannot fault!

User

Steak pudding was amazing. The fish is good too. The best chippy around here

User

It's fab that I have found a place where i can eat a chippy tea. I have coeliac disease and follow a strict gluten free diet. Had a lovely portion of fish and chips last night and will definitely be back

User

I may only be in the country 3 weeks a year but a trip to Skippers is always on the list!

User

Had my first chippy tea in months on Thursday and it was blummin lovely. Fish was lovely and fresh, batter light and crispy. Well done Skippers

User

Had a 50th wedding party last night and wanted something different from the usual buffet. Skippers delivered 100 portiobs of hot, fresh' well wrapped chip Barms with enough sausage to sink a ship at a really reasonable cost. Their service was definitely more superior than our own slightly chaotic 'dishing out' but wouldn't hesitate to use them again. A treat on a cold winter night. Well done and thank you x

User

Enjoyed our #chippytea tonight. Good to see Skippers open again after refurb. Shop looking good and food as great as ever. Tasty chips, nice haddock and yummy scampi. Great homemade tartar sauce.

User

Came to spend my £20 voucher that I kindly won in the competition. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. We ordered 2 steak and pepper pies 2 x chips and 2 gravy. All was cooked perfectly and the gravy was lovely best chippy we have had yet. Thank you!

User

After an initial disappointment with a steak pie having kidney in the swift and honest from the owner of this business led me to change my review from a 1 star to a 4 star

User

Reopened yesterday and would have been better to stay shut until work finished. Front of house chaotic with portion boxes bags and paper everywhere. No pies fish was wonderful but chips white and horrible. I won't be back in a hurry!

User

For a haddock and large chips it cost £7 which is more than what I usually pay. I thought as there are 3 branches across Lancashire it would be outstanding. The chips were good but the large portion was half the size I would expect. I'm glad I didn't order it together in a box as the portion would have been even smaller. The fish was very flat and tasted rubbery. I was quite disappointed to be honest and would look further afield next time. Sorry!

Edit - I visited the store on 27th May and the promise of a free meal from the owner Andy was ready and waiting. This time I had a haddock and a regulary portion of chips. I have to admit I must have caught them on a bad afternoon last time as the fish this time was fantastic, much better size and better tasting. The chips were also a decent portion. Its good to see the owner cares about his business and his customers. As a result I will definitely be back. Thanks.

User

Went on Wednesday for the first time since the refurbishment was quite a long wait for our food but it was fairly busy, we got back to the house and unfortunately there was what I believe to be a fishcake in my large chip's, normally getting extra food wouldn't bother me but I am allergic to fish. With the wait being what it was and being very hungry and closing time looming my partner decided she would eat them. But it is disappointing to think that I could have potentially been quite ill, I have always enjoyed the chips from here but I will have to think twice about going back.

User

Rubbery chips. Soggy fish and gravy instead of curry. Complete waste of money the Staff are also not very efficient.

User

My husband has just waited for over half an hour, paid a fortune for our chippy tea. Our chips are hard and my fish is absolutely tiny. Not impressed at all.

User

I was starving and looking forward to my fish and chips = the fish was so small i thought it might be a fish finger!! - the chips ok but the peas had cold, hard lumps in them - disappointed !

User

£14.10 for 3x microwaved Steak puddings and chips. Expensive considering they tried hide the sorry looking puddings under chips. Asked for my money back and walked out. Won’t be going back!
