We’ve just got back from our first time at Skipsea Sands and we have absolutely loved it! It was our first caravan holiday and our first as a family of 4! Our caravan was fantastic, clean and spacious and had everything that we could of needed. The park was brilliant, my boys have had the best time. We did everything!! Swimming, bowling, play areas, soft play, amusements, kids activities, disco, ate at the restaurant and walked into Skipsea. It was a very last minute booking via wowcher and after reading reviews I went with an open mind but we really had the best time. Would recommend to others!

User

First time at Skipsea sands for me and my wife we booked through another source as we were going camping from 15.5.18. to 18.5.18 (3 x days)

on arrival the site was massif Mostly static/ tourers etc booked in at Reception then of to pitch our new tent, never used it before. well after trying for 1.5 hrs to erect the tent i went to reception to see if anyone could help us pitch the tent,

a very nice groundsman staff who goes camping himself helped us.

We went for a walk onsite a small shop, amusements x 2 areas, leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna & gym, Full Size bowling alley (have to pay for bowling) 2 x separate bars a boathouse bar which sells food & also a large showbar which as entertainment for kids and cabaret at night (usually onsite Troupers) staff who can dj sing dance bingo caller etc

Negatives: showers in one block very hot no temperature control on showers H&S issue someone could get scalded, however other shower block seemed to be fine toilets warm and clean.

Boathouse bar very restricted Food Menu due to kitchen filter being broken

Tent pitch ground a little hard and grass worn in places (soz just being picky now)

Overall we enjoyed our 3 x day stay at Skipsea Sands would recommend going to see for yourself, we would go again maybe in a static hard work with a tent ah ah

Arrived yesterday booked wheelchair accessible caravan. Caravan is lovely unfortunately only husband & I as friend who usually comes with us passed away in December. We had paid for 4 as booked through a newspaper offer. We requested the bed be moved so hubby can get in on left hand side. Also requested a piece of wood to go under mattress. Richard from maintenance came to help move bed & asked why we needed wood under mattress. I showed him our bed bar & showed him that if it sits on slats it will fall down making it unsafe for my husband. He went to explain to his manager & returned saying due to h&s not safe to do it. I replied due to h&s not safe otherwise so we swapped beds from spare room as divan bases. Thanks to Richard for helping me move bed. I suggest a member of management come round next time to see the problem as if our friend had been with us if would have been unsafe to stay.

Stayed Friday - Monday, 2 adults, 2children (9 and 3). Disappointed in caravan as it was absolutely freezing and needed updating, however we didn’t spend much time in the caravan so didn’t spoil our weekend.

Entertainers were excellent, kids thoroughly enjoyed the star tots and the star krew activities. Kids disco was good and madness and mayhem kept us all entertained. The ‘troupers’ went out of their way to make the children feel welcome, they did a great job and made our holiday.

There was much more to do than we had anticipated so stayed on site the whole weekend. Pool and changing area could do with being updated but kids enjoyed it. Bowling quite expensive I felt. Arcade, soft play, trampolines, small rides, play park, various kids activities.

We ate in The Boathouse quite often ( no other options and due to temp of caravan, didn’t want to eat in there). Although they were busy, we didn’t feel the time we waited unreasonable, food adequate for the price. Staff were great, particularly in difficult circumstances. Lots of customers complaining about one thing or another ( some being unreasonable) and staff handled it well. I’m really not sure how they acted so professionally at times.

All in all, a pleasant weekend, but some improvements needed.

Just returned from a mid week break. The check in was a smooth process. Then on to the touring site we was on pitch 29. Nice size pitches all with own water, electric and drainage. The hard standing slabs could do with a little attention as some broke and wobbly. Hedges, grass and trees could do with some attention but this didn't spoil our stay. Shower blocks clean and nice warm showers. Had food from the boat house on Monday evening, can recommend this as was really nice. Over all a nice site with welcoming staff. Would defiantly visit again.

User

Had a lovely break Monday to Friday through the sun, caravan was beautiful and spacious. The 1st one we were given the previous people had been smoking and broken the door. Reception gave me keys to another straight away with no fuss. All the staff were friendly and great with my boys. Thank you for a lovely holiday

User

We came back yesterday from here, we booked the caravan privately, which was lovely.

The site itself I felt was outdated, the boathouse and the show bar are modern but everywhere else needs to be updated.

The children’s climbing frame was broken the barriers were down so children were climbing on it (dangerous).

The bowling section had bowls stuck down it and the couple next to us had to wait about a quarter of their time to get it fixed.

The arcade was dirty with rubbish on the floor, the entrance to the building has been done up but the inside is like a tin building.

Taking the rubbish out my son found a dead rat!

Yesterday morning at booking out time there was an hours wait for food (we ended up leaving)

I would recommend Skipsea to people as long as you have a car and willing to go out every day.

We also had some friends which had booked through the site and was told the owners on the caravan showed up because they hadn’t been informed someone was renting there caravan that weekend!

User

Overall good site. Swimming pool, sauna and steam excellent. Pool needed to be a bit warmer as we had a toddler with us and she was shivering after 20 mins . Bar restaurant and showbar good. Food was good value for money. Onsite shop and amusements were also great. We were on the touring field in a tent. Wash facilities very poor. No hot water all weekend in either shower block or swimming pool area. 3 showers in block where water only trickled. No baby changing facilities any where. Very difficult to wash and change a baby on a toilet/shower floor !!! Wouldn't recommend taking babies or toddlers.

User

Checked in and given key to caravan...arrived to find another family in it!! Went to reception and was told we had been given a complimentary upgrade (guessing double booked). Arrived at new caravan to find there was no bedding (the caravan itself was stunning, nearly new and definately an upgrade). Went back to reception to ask for some bedding and said someone would come. Staff arrived and made beds whilst having conversations to their families on mobiles, asked for toilet rolls as we had realised we didnt have any of those either, they didnt have any so said someone would drop some off and leave them outside as we wanted to go out for the evening. Arrived home from club to a bag of wet bedding and no toilet rolls. Went to pub to get a toilet roll as it was out of hours and i was fed up of complaining!!!

Pool is nice but cold. My food was lovely but my friends was burnt one day then the wrong order the day after ďż˝ we were both also overcharged for drinks at the bar on seperate occasions (which considering the prices already) is a bit of a joke.

Went to use a pan on the second night to warm hotdogs and found every pan had oil in the bottom, which can only be put down to poor cleaning and previous tenants not cleaning after themselves!!

Im not someone to complain and we still made the best of our holiday and enjoyed ourselves but it certainly isnt the best caravan site we have visited and i think a lot of that is down to the size of it and poor organisation/staffing issues. On a positive note the entertainment team were fantastic ďż˝

User

Awful experience twice at The Boathouse restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend it if you are staying. First time waited over an hour to receive cold and incorrect food. Thought it was perhaps a mishap first time so gave it another go. Wish I hadn’t. What a waste of money. Shouldn’t put photos in the menu if your food is going to look nothing like it. Caravan was good, nice and clean which was a welcome surprise. Shop not open too late so I would take any essentials with you if you arrive after 5pm. Pub in village wasn’t open once during our week - have a feeling it’s closed down. Weather good. Won’t be rushing back but was ok! Can’t say I would recommend.

User

What a brilliant park.... upon arrival we found that our caravan was in the middle of a row and with a little boy that uses a wheelchair and the boggy ground it didn’t look ideal. Darren from the bedding team helped us and requested a different location. This was quickly sorted and we ended up in one of the newer caravans very close to the entertainment which was absolutely perfect. The caravan itself though wasn’t totally clean, tomatoes spilt on the floor and bedding missing, as well as a light in the main bedroom that wasn’t working. I went to report this immediately but sadly despite every day being promised this would be repaired it wasn’t, which made it very difficult to get my boy sorted.

The entertainment team though are what makes Skipsea Sands and Catherine particularly was outstanding. Full of enthusiasm no matter what time it was. The biggest thing for me was Catherine noticing my boy joining in (and although she had no idea he had special needs) he won the dance competition and his confidence boosted massively. It’s a moment I’ll never forget and a big step in his life journey. Catherine- a massive thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The pool staff were also great and there was so much for the children to do.

Just a big shame about the caravan standards and the false promises.

User

Went here Monday to Friday at half term. Caravan was dirty bin had mouldy food in had to buy disinfectant to clean it. Locks didn’t work on doors properly. Water heater had to be lit at least 10 times a day. Shower leaked in bathroom and also outside. Flags uneven outside caravan. Bins overflowing and toilets in show bar disgusting. Been to park resorts before and never had this. Complained after we got home and was told it had been passed on to management I’m thinking they don’t care.

User

We've just arrived back from a weekend, caravan lovely, entertainment for the children and adults great, soft play for young ones, my only complain was the restaurant, boat house, we ordered food Friday night burgers and fries as it was 9 we had to wait in the show bar but not a problem waited 45 mins still nothing went in told us 10 mins went back to find they had lost our order!!! How do you do that it goes through the tills then had to wait another 30 mins as there is nowhere else to eat, went to club house on Saturday night and said we eat early in the restaurant waited over a hour with children that are bored to wait, to then get a dried up chicken with bacon and cheese that was awful for ÂŁ10. Sent back and asked to 're cook a fresh one, the restaurant is disgusting 3 complaints that night and all we got was sorry, the restaurant wants a new cook and some customer services training, wouldn't be my choice to come back there at all,

User

Stayed fri-mon, caravan was basic but sufficient for our needs.

Very muddy and waterlogged which not good when car got stuck needed to be pulled out with tractor.

Park clearly had signs up saying all dogs to be on leads however wasn’t the case for everyone , my dog isnt the best around other animals so we tried our best to keep her away from others and always had her on the lead however with others not following rules left us a bit uncomfortable when walking her.

Not happy with activities available, my daughter is 14 and son is 11 there wasn’t much choice for there age range, the activities they choose to do 1 been archery we went to book to be told they don’t have equipment...so cancelled and nothing put in place!!! So y it’s on the activities???

There was no other activities available other than water related (which my son isn’t confident enough to do) so we went off site, the 2nd choice they made a sports activity hour on the Sunday.

When we arrived the guy knew nothing about it I had to show him on the guide he then said ohhhh I will ask the manager, he then returned to say go to the sports hall some1 will b there shortly it will be a mix of football, badminton, basketball, netball which we said was fine.

A team member arrived at time it was due to start put a football net up and gave kids a ball and then after half hr he came over to the parents saying it’s my 1st season here and to b honest I don’t know what eles to do with them so we will leave at that. We was offered a free game of bowling to compensate however the lanes were full so asked to return later which we didn’t do due to going off site to find other options.

The night entertainment wasn’t too bad us and the kids enjoyed our evenings however toilets in bar area where disgusting smelt really bad and looked like not been cleaned in days.

The boathouse restaurant very busy so couldn’t eat in there on friday however we went back on the Sunday we found a table straight away however 1 meal arrived clap cold and had to be returned which then arrived once 2nd meal had been finished and the 3rd (a kids meal) didn’t arrive till after both! I had to complain about this and was just told we apologise it’s with us been busy but it clearly wasn’t as busy as previously so put us off wanting to go back at tea time so again we went of site.

Overall I wouldn’t recommend this park to anyone.

User

Kids seemed to like it 4 and 5 year old. Not much to do I didn't think and food was horrible and made people wait ages even when no one is hardly in it. Didn't even get a sorry or anything. We went and got some food in from Tescos as didn't want to go again for us not to like it

User

Booked early for Monday to Friday, paid £20 deposit of a £320 fee which included an early booking discount, when paid rest of money noticed the price had gone down by £50, as we had paid for 2 caravans at £320 each that was £100 extra we had paid, rang and complained and got standard response of this was the price at the time- even though there was supposed to be a reduction for ‘early ‘ booking- won’t fall for that again as I won’t be going back!

Caravan was old, worn and tatty but clean. Bed sheets had holes and small bedroom had a foisty smell.

Entertainment for kids on a night was good but Showbar too small, either had to be in at 6pm to get a seat or stand at front with small children so they could watch the entertainment. Swimming pool far too small for size of the site, an hour queue to get in and then less than an hour in the pool. Amusement arcade and soft play poor, mainly 2p games and older children frightening younger children on the soft play.

Play park, 1 swing, 1 slide and various climbing frames, after 10 minutes children were bored. Unable to reach the sands due to erosion.

The whole site needs to be updated and offer more facilities, we will not be returning.

User

Where do I start,

Stayed before and the site was ok but this time it was appalling, had a slight problem with the caravans we booked I’ve read a few of reviews which are very much alike to my problem, booked for two caravans to be exactly next door to each other even rang a second time to double check that we would be getting two caravans next door too each other, upon arrival the caravans were not next door to each other but when enquired receptionist said it’s only a short walk you’ll be fine, which was rude since i asked for them to be next to each other then was told by someone we’d only just met we would be fine?!?.

Anyway went into the pet caravan with our black dog to find dirt and white hairs all over, what a mess. Nearly had a trip to Vets before my daughter stumbled across a broken glass where our dog was running around. We decided to express are upset with the way we had been treat with the manager, which she very rudely stated she couldn’t do anything about it, and then repeated that till we left, no type of apology or help for us. Until we went to the manager we wasn’t going to complain but she was very unprofessional blaming everything on the head office.

Showers were cold for the pool which was stated but with all these problems it makes me wonder what my money was spent on.

It’s a very outdated site, not a beach holiday so don’t think because it’s called Skipsea Sands you will be able to go to the beach because it is all eroded, both caravans were old, outdated and dirty. If already booked bring some cleaning gear because you will need it, pots and pans were dirty, I don’t think that the caravans has been check or cleaned at all.

Pub has at least an hour wait for food even when your the only ones in there, Been a few times to this park and would never come again and I advise to all parents, young families and pet owners to book elsewhere, because that’s what we will be doing next summer. Ruined the holiday we were hoping for, really upset with the way we were treat.

User

Omg! Went here camping but noticed the electric hookup was going right across the front of my tent pitch, also tent next to me just pitching up had the same prob! It was a danger So we both went to complain at reception. Spoke to manager, she was so sarcastic and rude! Not helpful at all! Refused to give me a refund cos I wanted to go home!! Why are you employing people like that?? We save up our money to come on holiday to get treated and spoken to like that?? So unprofessional! The park was overgrown in many places with nettles overhanging and thistles my son nearly got stung.most people were complaining abiut the food in the restaurant saying they couldn't eat it! Bored during the day hardly anything on for my 4yr old. So spent the day at soft play and park might aswell been at home! Bowling was too expensive ÂŁ10. Rusty radiators, broken taps in the ladies toilets in the showbar. No loo roll, went to bar told bar staff young lad didn't say much. Went back in an hour later still the same. Won't recommend this park to anyone and will tell people not to waste their money! The site needs closing down and updating. Filthy stained chairs your expected to sit on in the soft play amusement area. Only good thing was the evening entertainment esp the lad on stage don't no his name he was absolutely brilliant! Everything else appalling! Come on parkdean make the changes it needs. You obviously don't care about your customers!!

User

Dirty caravan which cleaners came back to clean twice! Before putting on a new toilet seat (because it was still dirty...) hairs in the shower, floor not been swept, dirty sink, toaster didn’t work, shower was hanging down and wouldn’t stay up so had to hold it to wash, also had to ask for clean bedding because that wasn’t clean either. Spent most of our holiday in reception complaining. Bar was dirty, floors covered in crumbs etc.. one toilet in the bar had a hair bobble on the top of it which stayed there the whole week, so doubt that was cleaned! Shame because the entertainment was brilliant and kids loved it. Needs lots of tlc and someone who cares about the cleanliness of the site. Won’t be back.
