Did you know that today is Young Carers awareness day? As many as one in five secondary school children may be a carer for someone in their lives. Young carers are entitled to support, both in their caring role, but also to decide if they are able to continue caring for a loved one. If you are a young carer and would like support and advice, you can speak to a member of the practice team, or contact carers direct on 0300 123 1053

Wuhan novel coronavirus
If 14 days before the onset of a respiratory illness, you have travelled to Wuhan, Hubei Province, China OR had contact with confirmed cases of WN-CoV.
We would advise DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY. CONTACT BY TELEPHONE TO DISCUSS ANY CONCERNS.
... On 31st December 2019, WHO was confirmed of a cluster of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. A novel coronavirus was subsequently identified from patient samples.
In the absence of effective drugs or a vaccine, control of this virus relies on the prompt identification, appropriate risk assessment, management and isolation of possible and confirmed cases and the investigation and follow up of close contacts to minimise potential onward transmission.
The risk to the UK population has been assessed as low, based on the emerging evidence regarding case numbers, potential sources and human to human transmission, the risk to travellers to Wuhan is moderate. This has been raised from very low due to current evidence on the likelihood of cases being imported into this country.

This week is cervical cancer prevention awareness week. To mark the start of this week of awareness we are posting a throwback to an article written for the Sleaford Standard back in March 2019 by our very own Dr Bhandal. As she states within the article; ‘Fear and embarrassment can discourage women from attending for cervical, screening but the potential benefits of screening has and can save lives.’
