Busy day at yesterdays MJ Baker Show. We served up some tasty Yorkshire Pudding Wraps containing Turkey, Mash Potato and Stuffing as well as Chocolate Custard and Jelly Trifle Desserts - very popular with all the visitors to our stand!

So how did Laura get on with Veganuary? “I’m really pleased to have completed my first ever Veganuary - it has highlighted to me that vegan recipes and ready meals are just as delicious as those in omnivore diets; it’s made me more critical of ingredients and where they come from; and it’s made me rethink how I can be sustainable, through food consumption and other methods of day to day consumption. And Gregg’s Vegan Sausage Rolls were really nice!”

With a quarter of a million people signed up for this year’s Veganuary it seemed only fair for SQF to try something new and go green for the month too. Tracey Siddy (Head of Herbs, Spices and Innovation) and Laura Griffin (Product Innovation Project Manager) have taken the plunge this month and gone vegan - and will be writing updates as to how the month is going!

Whilst Sutton and Sons, a traditional chip shop in Hackney, has introduced an all-vegan battered fish made from banana blossom (the leaves of the hanging part of the banana plant), SQF have developed a Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash and Rosemary Wellington with Beetroot Mash recipe to celebrate Veganuary. The recipe uses standard SQF products, and is a colourful, tasty inclusion on any vegan’s menu – even if just for January!

Fantastic effort by everyone at Sleaford Quality Foods who have donated a mountain of food and toiletries to the Foodbank at the local New Life Centre, all of which will be distributed to those in need this Christmas. Special thanks to Lindsay Slater for organising such a great gesture.

Thanks to Sunnys plaice and their team for providing over 140 members of staff with awesome fish and chips this afternooon. Today was the exact day the business was formed 50 years ago so we celebrated our anniversary in the best way possible!
