We took our 2 Granddaughters on Halloween night, how brilliant. The girls enjoyed every minute, our eldest Granddaughter is Autistic and last year at Sledmere she only joined in a part of activities. This year she joined in the whole event with her sister. Fantastic event. Our girls have already asked, "can we get tickets soon for next year's Halloween please" Thanks Sledmere you did it again. 10/10

Visited with my elderly mum on Wednesday 9th August it is such a beautiful house & gardens & lovely helpful n friendly staff ( gentleman helped my mum upstairs n back down in the lift ) followed by a wonderful tasty meal in the restaurant Highly Tecommended for a full day out ! It felt so warm n cosy inside the house & it was nice to learn the family use all the property.

User

Took my parents to the cafe for lunch. Very nice food and excellent service. Reasonable wait for food. Also visited the gardens. Good to see that they have made an effort for wheel chair access and staff couldn’t help enough . Could not visit the house though as there was a wedding. Enjoyed seeing the animals, visiting the shire horses and playing the horse shoe game.

User

The gardens were in full flower and looked beautiful. You can see that a lot of work has been done to develop the garden and it will be good to visit again in a couple of years to see how it's grown. There was a glut of fruit and veg that was just going to waste in the walled garden, and I thought that was a shame. The cafe was bustling but we didn't have to wait too long to be served. The homemade food was competitively priced, presented nicely and delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would have liked to order a salad but that wasn't offered on the menu, however the quiche was tasty and served with a small side salad and coleslaw.

User

Super day visiting the house and gardens. The walled garden was brimming with beautiful flowers. We took the tour of the house with Gwyneth - fun and informative and a comfy seat to use in every room which my mum was very grateful of - a hidden treasure of a house - will certain return x

User

Seemed more like a family home. Not grand just beautiful. Jane our guide was so knowledgeable and most entertaining.

The walled garden would have been lovely sadly some of it had been dashed by the heavy rain, but still a good selection of plants.

All the staff in the house, restaurant and shop were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.

Will certainly make a return visit.

User

My little boy had such an amazing day here today. He especially loved cuddling the chicks, grooming Polly and feeding & cuddling the lambs. The staff were all so lovely and the grounds are gorgeous. Thank you so much for a fab family day out! We will definitely be back xx

User

Lovely day at the deer safari, lucky enough to catch look at a newborn too. Also nice time exploring the walled garden, stables and paddock and to top it off lovely food in the terrace. I will definately reccomend to everyone.

User

Lived in Bridlington for over 40 years and went to Sledmere House for the very first time yesterday. Lovely peaceful gardens and a house steeped in history. Enjoyed the guided tour very much and the tea rooms and restaurant is highly recommended,

User

Just back from our first (first of many) visits to Sledmere! We have loved it. The play area is ace and the grounds are beautiful with loads of space for running around/picnics etc. The stables are fab too and what a fab area for the kids to play/dress up/colour/read etc....such a fab area! I can't believe I've never visited before! We will definitely be back...regularly! The ladies in the shop/admission but were so friendly and helpful too!

User

It must have been 25 years since we were last at Sledmere and it is pleasing that times have moved on but the character of this home is not lost.

Three generation visit enjoyed by all; excellent guided tour of the house with the knowledgeable, and non pc, Nicholas giving an interesting blend of family history and information on the house and its contents.

This was followed by a meander through the immediate grounds of the house admiring the wonderful trees and an exploration of the lovely walled garden.

It was then time to refuel and the Terrace tearoom provided good sandwiches and a .very tasty ploughmans lunch all in pleasant and clan surroundings. The food was all freshly prepared and we would certainly use it again.

Sledmere is not a Chatsworth or Castle Howard but it is a fine family home with an interesting history and a great place to visit.

User

I thought the firework display was amazing the best one I've ever seen and I've been to plenty, my little boys face when he saw them was priceless, it was £22.50 for myself, my son and my mother which I thought was good value, you couldn't buy fireworks for that price and have the stunning scenes that were Saturday night, the only criticism I have is the grass needed covering with sacks or boards as the mud was horrendous and we kept getting stuck in it but all in all fantastic event well done Sledmere xx

User

I am reviewing the walled garden only, I didn’t go into the house. However, the walled garden is spectacular. Wonderful arrangement of plants, shrubs and trees, to provide a dramatic, colourful landscape. I spotted 6 different species of butterflies and numerous species of bees. Glorious.

User

Brilliant trip out today!! The kids loved hunting for pumpkins. And Christine the volenteer at the house was lovely and very informative. Tea rooms serve an amazing afernoon tea. And the farm shop !! Wow!!! Kids loved the animals also especially the pigs. Will definately be coming again. Thank you!!

User

Beautiful and stunning. Driven past thousands of times but never visited. Well worth the effort and give yourself time to explore the house, stables and gardens and farm shop. 👍

User

A great place to visit the walled garden was peaceful and beautiful. The deer safari was well organised and a treat for everyone who went to see the adult and baby deer. The views are spectacular. There is something for all ages well worth a visit will go again.

User

Visited the Artisan food and Craft event which was lovely . Plenty of stalls and a wonderful variety. But parking was a nightmare. There were no signs to actually say where you could park. We drove through one opening into what looked like a fast yard. It was full vehicles and nothing to say this was the only parking or it was the stall holders parking. The only sign we could see was for coaches, but that was full of cars too so we drove out of there and ended up way past the event leaving Sledmere. Turning round we went back and saw a vehicle leaving from the first place we drove into so tried in there again . Finding another opening into what looked like a goods yard with fencing, bricks wood etc we just parked up next to another vehicle that had been driving around too.

User

I went with my daughters and grandson to see the lambs , chicks etc , a very good day , the only downside was the fountain in the grounds ,it needed a good clean out , there were dead fish and frogs in it , not nice to see , the cafe was very good , we will definitely be visiting again, it will be nice to see all the flowers when they are out, the daffodils looked good, a nice relaxing day .

User

expensive for a night walking round a muddy field paying £9 per adult for 15 minutes of fireworks, paying £5:50 for what was billed as a hog roast but was in actual fact a half warm pork butty, being half blinded by the smoke from the bonfire which due to the wind could not be avoided (not the organizers fault) paying £3 per child per 2 minute fairground ride and spending over half an hour trying to exit the car park (grass field). Not one of the best firework events that i have been too, left feeling that i had been ripped off.
