Happy Halloween!
Hope you are enjoying the fun and games that the day brings, dressing up, face-paints trick or treating and inevitably loads of sweets!!
So Halloween is one of those nights that I try and flex with my kids a bit to enjoy the fun and games but only a little bit!
... We agree before we go out how many sweets we are allowed (I normally start at 1 and then work up to 3-4 small ones to help them to feel that they've got something !) and try and make sure that they are eaten a couple of hrs before bed..and then the rest we keep in a special place for treats across the next few weeks. We definitely aren't a sugar free zone but my kids on too much sugar... no one needs that, even on Halloween!
And then I normally allow them to stay up about 30 mins later than normal, a child's body clock can handle a variance of around 30 mins each day so we work to that. If your child still has a nap to go today, then perhaps try and make it a bit later or last a touch longer as that will help them to stay up a bit if that works for you.
So most of all enjoy! And if you are staying in to welcome the Trick or Treaters make sure you turn your pumpkins off at bedtime as that should hopefully stop the knocking on the door!!

Our new logo is inspired by our love of nighttime (sleep not being awake of course!) and you'll start to see it being used over the page and on all of our bits and pieces.

So go on then... how did this morning go.? We had a bit of an earlier start but just going to power through today, coffee in hand!
Remember the advice is to just put naps and bedtime 30 mins earlier for 3 days and then switch to the new timing, that helps them to readjust more easily, hope it goes well!

I love this Circle of Self care from @stacieswift it’s even better as it does exactly what I keep banging on about which is to remind people of how important sleep is.. but the other stuff matters as well - especially the coffee ☕️ bit!!

Working with Kate was really great. She is very calm and supportive and listened to where we were at and what we were after. I liked that she didn't agree with 'crying it out'. Her approach was straightforward and easy to follow and she helped us along the way with regular phone calls and emails, adapting the plan as we went on.

We definitely have better sleep since working with Kate and I would thoroughly recommend her!

When we contacted Kate we hadn't as a family had a nights full sleep for over 9 months, with multiple wake ups each night. We were all exhausted. Kate was supportive, her approach really easy to understand and follow, and she helped us to adapt the plan when we needed to. Kate has continued to support us despite stopping the plan due to family illness, and 4 months later she continued again to support us with regular contact via phone and email. Here we are now having had nearly a month of full night sleeping for the whole family. Amazing!! Cant recommend Kate highly enough.

We went to Kate with our 6 month old who would wake many times a night, sometimes waking every half hour & was very unpredictable during daytime naps. She was easy to talk to, not judgemental and very knowledgeable. Her plan was easy to follow & gave me a lot of confidence, and it was great having the regular phone calls & emails to ask questions as I worked through the plan. We started seeing big improvements within the first 2 days, and now my baby is so much quicker to settle, in a much better routine for him & for us, and his night wakings have reduced dramatically. So pleased we found Kate & would highly recommend her.

We came to Kate with our 20month old who would take hours to fall asleep at night being cuddled,wake in the night to come into our bed and sometimes be up between 2-5hours in the night with no signs of tiredness. By day 3 our son slept through the night and by day 6 he didn’t even need us to be in the room with him whilst he fell asleep. I am so impressed by Kate’s technique and how professional she is. Getting help from Kate is the best decision we have ever made. Our 2.5yo had never slept through. Waking 5 or 6 times, only falling asleep with me by her side, night bottle, 2 hour exhausting battles at bedtime...the lot! I hadnt slept in my own bed for about a year! Since Kate did the sleep plan for us, our little girl now loves bedtime. She sleeps through and if she does wake....if ever, she self settles immediately! She sleeps from 7pm until 6.30am and stays in bed until 7am! Its amazing. She loves her bedtime routine and loves sleep- even her day time nap! Kate gave us the most excellent plan and support- understood our issues and addressed them all. We now have full nights sleep for the first time ever and our little girl is so much happier, as are Mummy and Daddy. This was the best decision we ever made, wish we had got help sooner!!!! I could not recommend Kate highly enough to anyone....we just cant believe the difference its made. Thank you!
