Nice food, we went in the day time in Saturday. People was walking out as they had been waiting to long to get served at the bar. The only way we get adrink was to sit at a table and order food. This was a lot quicker than standing at the bar to get served. There’s plenty of bars in the area to choose from next time. The cocktails we ordered didn’t represent the picture from the cocktail twist menu, the glass was full of crushed ice, hence you couldn’t really taste the berries. We didn’t have to wait long for the drinks or food, we was asked if we wanted any sauces, and if we wanted the pudding menu

We were out last weekend for a hen do that started with a meal here. The table was pre booked and a deposit paid and we were all looking forward to a few cocktails. My shoe choice wasn’t the best and were really uncomfortable and so as we approached I was leaning on a friends arm. We were instantly and very rudely denied access by a miserable looking doorman who declared we’d had too much to drink and couldn’t go in! This was in front of approximately 30 customers and was incredibly embarrassing. I released my friends arm, explained we weren’t drunk and that my shoes were simply uncomfortable and tried to laugh off the misunderstanding. The bouncer went off to speak to the manager and came back begrudgingly granting us access, informing one of our party to ensure we didn’t drink anymore (we were sober!).

Once finally seated we all went to the bar to order our drinks, when the same doorman informed the bar staff very loudly not to serve my friend as she’d had too much. Humiliated again, she ended up in the bathroom and very upset as was her 74 year old mother who was with us. As if that wasn’t enough, the same doorman repeatedly and obviously watched our group for any excuse to say something. Needless to say we were eager to have our meal and leave. Had we not have paid a deposit we wouldn’t have bothered staying at all. Over all your miserable, snotty doorman ruined what should have been a fun filled night. Perhaps some customer service training would be beneficial.

Waited 15 minutes to b served, then 25 minutes for our cocktails (there was 2 of us) then we were told our table was reserved at 4, well its not our fault we had to wait so long. Then we finished our drinks and waited over 15 minutes trying to pay before finally getting up walking over to the girl by the till near the toilets, interrupting her on her phone and saying excuse me ive been waiting to pay, no apology, nothing, she couldn't care a less. Couple with 2 kids on next table to us waited 20 minutes to be served before walking out furious. Awful service, awful attitude, i could have just walked out without paying. No one would have noticed. Abysmal.

Unfortunately a nice day was spoilt, after ordering starters & main I proceeded back to my table where 4 empty glasses still stood on my table from previous customers. Starters arrived & no cutlery so manager said she’d go get some, unfortunately she never came back so customers on the next table gave us theirs. Unfortunately this is not the end of our complaint!! After finishing starters we waited 40mins & no mains so i went to the bar to ask if the mains would be coming soon? I was then told by a waitress that they hadn’t even started cooking them as i had not informed them we’d finished our starters! I could not believe that i a customer had to put up my hand like a child before i could be seen to! Unfortunately i cancelled my order & proceeded to the restaurant next door where the service & food was outstanding.

Really disappointed with my experience yesterday. We had pre booked afternoon tea for a hen do, I had asked for a dairy free option and told that would be available for me. After waiting over an hour our food came out, when we asked where the dairy free option was we were told I could have sandwiches but there were no pudding options. This left me with 4 open sandwiches! When I complained I was told I could have a bowl of strawberries, that is not acceptable as a pudding for afternoon tea! If they had told us there was not a dairy free option I would not have ordered food. As I was starving I then had to go and buy more food which I wish I had done in the first place.

I appreciate how busy a Saturday summer evening can get and I totally understand what it’s like when you are short staffed etc... however the service myself and our hen party received on sat 7th July was appalling!! After waiting over 35 minutes to be served at the bar we were then told there were no gin spritz cocktails left!! For god sake everyone has gone gin crazy so you think you would have enough stock for customer demand! Anyhow we changed our choices only to wait another 15-20 minutes for the extremely rude barman (long hair in his face and piercings) to proceed to try and serve someone else at the same time!! When I asked if he was preparing my drinks I received a mouthful of abuse from him and a response of “what you want me to do about it?” Well firstly I would like him to speak to me correctly and secondly just prepare our drinks!!

This just topped off our visit as upon entrance the mother of the bride who was a bit breathless from our walk to the venue was almost rudely refused entry by the extremely impolite bouncer claiming she was to drunk as she was holding onto her daughters arm!

Shocking from start to finish. Should have read previous reviews as the first 5 on here are pretty much similar to our experience. Would like a response as to how this can be acceptable.

Hello,

I had a very disappointing visit to your Birmingham branch of Slug and Lettuce. My experience was very poor and I felt I was back in the 90’s. We found our seat and we made our meal choices. We starting to walk to the bar when we were approached and a member of staff took our order back at our table ( young guy with fair hair, sorry didn’t catch his name). I asked for dairy alternative or soya milk to his reply was “no we only have green milk or cream”. I can’t believe a restaurant in 2018 doesn’t have these options. Next once my tea arrived I asked the guy for sweetener his reply no we haven’t got that and walked off no apology. both of the pots of teas we ordered were ‘just warm’, we had no choice but to drink these quickly before getting stone cold. We had a short wait for our food, I ordered extra bacon to go with my order. When our food came we weren’t given the extra bacon. I enquired to the female waitress whose reply was I think it’s on the other plate (which was my boyfriends order). She said she would cook some more and she returned a short while later. We could not fault the actual cooked breakfasts we ordered but it’s a shame that you lack food alternatives, and we experienced poor customer service. I am extremely disappointed by the service and I will not be returning to your restaurants again. I would have expected better from a restaurant in 2018, even McDonalds has soya milk and sweetener.
