Was at the Jazz Jam Session and as always it was a great evening, with helpful staff. My band are doing a gig with you on 4/9/18 and we hope it will be well attended.
Popped in while in the village, I do not know this site or area so it was just an off chance. Food is lovely, Sophie who looked after us was great, atmosphere was great. We would definitely come again. Xxxx
Had a lovely time here on a monday evening. Between two us we had a starter, two main meals and two desserts. For only £15 as it is 50% on food mondays. Cheaper than a takeaway! The food is restaurant style but the pub is light and airy with a casual atmosphere. I loved the alcholic ice cream. Never had it before and it was delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly. We were served really quickly. Will definitely go back again!
Good food, lovely cocktails and great staff.
Fayyee was so friendly! Waited ages for my fopd and she sorted it reyt away! Up the fayee. 10/10
Competition winner - attended on 22/07/17. Had an absolute ball on Saturday night. As promised, we had a prosecco arrival (although we arrived early so had a drink outside first). Then we went to make our first cocktail. Rob was an absolute blast and got everyone involved, he's got a great sense of humour. We then sat down to a lovely Buffett. The food was gorgeous. After the buffett we got to make our second cocktail, again we were laughing the whole time. Last but not least was the jäger train. I even got to fill the train up, which was a nice little touch I thought. I had great feedback from my friends who said what a great time they had. I also loved the fact that there was a live band playing. All the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend a visit. For food, the beautiful cocktails on offer or even to book the cocktail master class. Fab giveaway. Thanks 'The Slug and Lettuce' for a fab night
Very busy on a Saturday evening.... Could do with more staff as the 2-4-1 cocktails are very popular and take much longer to make.... Maybe they could do a beer/spirit only section on the bar as you could probably serve 4 people buying only beer at the same speed as a person buying cocktails
Tuesday night jazz club upstairs is £5 on the door in a very comfy room.
Service was slow at the bar, but only £2.75 for a pint of well pulled Bombardier. Didn't see other real ales though.
I'll return.
I had a bacon cheeseburger which was decent but my wife really enjoyed her bibimbap. Really raved about it. The place was empty save for a group who I presume were having their Xmas lunch. Service was good and staff were friendly and polite. I hadn't been to slug for a few months but think will be back soon.
Great food, reasonably priced, and friendly staff. Only moan I have about the place is when waiting for drinks at the bar, no fault of the bartender but surely if he's making cocktails for somebody. Which is very time consuming then somebody else should also be serving behind the bar to help keep the queue and waiting time down.
Great food and value for money. Very slow service considering it was nearly empty on a Monday afternoon. Would go back again though.
Attended a private function upstairs. An excellent room and well suited to needs of this family and friends gathering. Only two minor criticisms - one concerned the food - it seemed to take a while for it to be served and serving utensils came eventually. The other was the bar - only one person working extremely hard to keep the queue to a minimum - reinforcements did appear but almost too late. There was a good choice of buffet food. All in all an excellent venue for this function.
Nice atmosphere, wine (nice Rioja) very good, Caesar salad a trifle "over-lettuced" but very nice dressing, service a bit slow even not full, but only seemed to be one waitress! Good vfm overall.
The pepper sauce for our steaks was like dishwater. They took the sauces back, replaced with some tangy off tasting bernaise sauce.
We'd finished our meals while waiting the half hour it took to bring them out to us.
Had a great night until the lady behind the bar was rude refusing to serve us because we weren't stood in the right place, waited 45 mins for a drink luckily another man who worked there told us to try upstairs and got served straight away. I know it was was busy with it being NYE but there is No need to be rude don't work it if you can't hack it.
Went for a meal with family, service was extremely slow. 2 out of 5 meals arrived wrong. Ate desert with the plates from main meal still on the table. Overcharged on the bill and toilets were disgusting. Having eaten there before and has very good experiences in the past I was extremely disappointed.
WHAT CAN I SAY. Ordered a steak which had to be returned inedible it was more gristle than meat , and was told a replacement could be the same , as this was the only steak on the menu I selected Cod and chips which was disappointing . We also ordered a meat platter and was served a fish platter this also had to be returned ,The quality of food was very poor if I could remove the 1 star above I would . Service was outstanding off MARTIN his customer service deserves a mention . more disappointing as this was our Granddaughters birthday .
