Popped in for lunch today, served by Jack. Service was incredible, very attentive but not intrusive. Best service in received in this place in a LONG time, he is a real asset !! Food was a little slow but was to be expected with how busy it was.

It's opened at a previously well renowned pub and has upped the standard now. Great choice of food for any time of the day, the location is excellent and the 2-4-1 cocktails all day everyday just makes it that bit better than the pubs around it.



It used it be our local spot and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

Awesome Christmas Meal! I'd just like to thank the Slug Team waiting on Christmas Day for looking after us so well. We could not fault the meal or the service. It was just lovely.

After stressful day needed lrg wine and good food. Very busy but was served straight away and bar man was chirpy and polite

Food came out quick and was delish very happy. Staff checked several times on us very good service...highly recommend ..will be back soon

Had dinner here Friday 22/9.

Was very quiet but was perfect for us as we were served very quickly. Good service and the food was really nice. I don't like this place when it's busy as you can never get served. But for this dinner, superb! 👍🏻

Went for a meal yesterday food was ok apart from the fact they didn’t have most of the dishes we asked for and they’d also run out of coke bizzare in a pub

Popped in last night , first time as it is now. Was ok , althoe certain bar staff were ignorant . The lovely barmaid with glasses � served me after seeing I was being ignored after standing for fifteen mins whilst the other staff served whoever pushed into the bar . I'm sure it's not always like this. Cute terrace to sit by canal shame it isent bigger thoe .

Nice place good music good cocktails, service was a bit slow considering it was a busy Saturday night it is okay too. Overall nice place to go with friends for cocktails and beer.

the service I received today was rude and out of character for someone who’s supposed to be professional at the work place I had nothing but attitude and an argument with one of the bar staff after only have two cocktails I won’t be coming back anytime soon

When a group of 15 has to leave because one of the group members is barred is not great. Especially that the reason was: "you were too mouthy last time". This is upsetting, especially when the group goes to the place for more than 4 years, since Hogstead days.

So so so upset!!! We are in here now after ordering atleast £85 worth of drinks and the young boys behind the bar weren't only rude towards us but all the cocktails we ordered weren't what we ordered!!! Talk about lazy man cocktails!!! I am here with the people I work with in Newbury and I will tell everyone not to come here!! It was thee worst experience ever!!! And to be honest I want my money back but the little kids they have working behind the bar wouldn't know what to do other then throw their toys out of the pram! So pissed off I wasted money here!!!

Please do yourself a favour and do not bother coming here!!!!

Really wanted to go in but couldn't get through your doormans cloud of smoke. it might be just from a vapour but is it necessary?? Its not everyones cup of tea you know

One star is too much but you can’t leave s comment with no stars.

Apparently their isn’t much on the menu that they have in stock. We were told this after we had chosen three different meals. The barman just didn’t give s damn. I suggest you sack all your evening staff and shut down for the evening if that’s the attitude your staff have.

I used to be a regular client of Slug & Lettuce, fan of the cocktails must admit.

However, the slow service and unreasonable behavior of the security with some friends made our group stop going to this pub.

It is a pity, with some few improvements Slug could definitely make more regular customers.

Don’t often visit this place but popped in for a drink, it was heaving. Stood waiting at the bar for a while, people obviously trying to push in, came to my turn, put my hand up and a lady come to me and said “I am not serving you, we have a no wave policy”.

So she served my partner, who was stood right next to me. A whole new level of stupid.
