Have visited a few times recently both during the day and in the evening. The staff I have been served by are always polite and attentive even when they are busy. I took my daughter out for breakfast and the food was delicious, and we were served really quickly. Well done team

Had my 'leaving do' last night, cocktail masterclass & buffet, Bradley was our mixologist & he absolutely made the night phenomenal, we all had the best time, laughed so much, I would (& have) recommend this evening if you're wondering what to do that's different. The buffet was really good too. Ruby did the arranging and told us how helpful the staff were in helping her with making decisions so that it was right on the night, thank you so much ÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩ

Nicely decorated warm atmosphere. Food was amazing. I had the open top chicken pie in puff pastry and red wine sauce and it was absolutely delicious. There was a mix up with the food order so was given one of our meals for free. We went on a Friday night it was a quiet night but as we went out for a meal and a few drinks it was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend it to other people. I come from basingstoke and would travel again to have a night out here.

Not very busy but still waited 25 minutes for food. Smothered chicken was over cooked & very dry. Chips were in a hot container but just had the chill off . Ciabatta was good.

The food is great, some of the drinks questionable - however some are excellent- just avoid the daiquiri. The separation of the smoking area outside is both pointless, stupid, and inconvenient.a deciding factor on where I take my business, and personally - no seats?no business.

First time eating at the winchester branch was a bit disappointed. Went there for my birthday meal last night and wasn't great. My chips were cold and my friends who both had mashed potato said it was too stodgy and was basocally packet mash potato and their sausage was burnt. I suppose you get what you pay for but won't be eating at this branch again. Bit of a let down for a birthday meal much prefer the bournemouth branch much better quality food. And the cocktails didn't come with whipped cream as advertised on menu. When the staff were asked if the mashed potato was out of a packet they didn't reply.. enough said

had a disgusting encounter with with the manager. He was exceptionally aggressive and antagonistic. I arrived 10 minutes before my husband and headed upstairs to be seated. There was one other sat up there too.



Husband arrived shortly after, and headed upstairs to meet me, we chose from the menu then he headed downstairs to order. The manager and another member of the bar staff were busy having a conversation. Neither moved or even acknowledged he was there. With the manager walking off and past him, he was left awkwardly at the bar for 3-4 minutes being ignored by the only other two members of staff on. The manager went upstairs and returned and he outrightly refused to take my husbands order until we had physically moved even when he said that we would do. (despite neither myself or husband being stopped going up there on our separate arrivals and no sign was there either).



Not happy with this situation because Husband couldn't order our food, Husband pointed out to the manager that he had already been ignored at the bar for some time. Manager took great displeasure to this criticism, even squared up to husband aggressively and didn't take responsibility but continued on about upstairs being closed and how it didn't need a closed sign. (clearly it did because it caused this awful conflict and general confusion).



He did start to explain that they are short staffed and due to budget cuts they could only have one other member of staff on. (I pointed out how none of this is my fault nor relevant). He then asked me to leave immediately and I was no longer welcome! But I was still upstairs unaware, the manger literally chased my husband upstairs as if we dare defy him! It transpired that it was a member of staff training for an exam who was sat up there. when we referenced the slug and lettuce, manager immaturely tried to argue that it was a bar not a restaurant (on this Facebook page it also says it is a restaurant!). He then challenged us on our backgrounds/education/training (which is ridiculous in itself as it should not be considered relevant to the conflict, but also because both of us have masters degrees anyway).



He tried non stop to discourage us from both making a genuine complaint to head office or honest review!



In the end, we left but manager continued aggressively walking us out continually burbling on about how he used to be a policeman and has studied law so knows his rights. And we repeatedly said he did need a sign to inform customers if upstairs was closed -Clearly he did - especially if a member of staff was trying to study for an exam in a general customer area.



Even when we were off the premises, he shouted as us 'Yes thank you very much off you go now' antagonistically and clearly wanted a physical fight with my husband.



Have taken this to slug and lettuce head office. Will await further response! Looks like others have encountered same bad experience!

Went in with my boyfriend for lunch, ordered a plain burger with only bacon, my order ended up being sent back twice for it being incorrect (I have to have it plain due to dietary requirements because of medical conditions) I then went to the bar for the third time for the waitress to then say the first two times were not their fault and that it was the way it was described to them - my boyfriend orders for me often enough to know what I can and can’t have and we never normally have any problems. Asked if there was anything they could do for a refund (you have to pay before) as my boyfriend had already finished his and I hadn’t even started) to be told there was nothing they would do. After being spoken to the way I was, I wasn’t even prepared to sit there and eat it if it did come out right so we left to go elsewhere for me. Absolutely will not be returning as the customer service here is appalling!! Bad attitude and my boyfriend said his meal wasn’t even nice.

We had a couple of cocktails at 5pm ish and had a lovely time and lovely cocktails. Went back at 8.30 and we were met with the rudest woman behind the bar we have ever met! Tried serving us half a glass of drink and when asked to top it up (with ice cubes or something!) was met with a complete strop and she subsequently told us that we were wasting her time and THREW our drinks into the sink and splashing her staff/ colleagues in the process with the liquid! GOBSMACKED! Absolutely vile behaviour from your staff! üò°üò°üò°üò°üò°üò°üò°üò°üò°üò° üò°

We booked a table for Two last week and got confirmation that was ok . Not only were we expecting table service which we did not get.(as apparently that is only upstairs ) and they put us downstairs but we weren't told that . Then by the time we managed to get served we were then told if you haven't booked a table we cant serve you food and when we said we had a table we were then told "we are not doing starters at all because we are busy" so at that point we go up & walked out and took our custom elsewhere. we do appreciate that they were busy however they should not have taken the booking if they were unable to full-fill it to the standard you expect from Slug and Lettuce.

Waited over half hour for a drink with a group of friends but according to the twat of a manager I had been there 5mins �. Of course you can’t say anything coz then he will refuse to serve you. AVOID!!

Very disappointing. We were very much looking forward to eating in the slug and lettuce in Winchester as the one we used to visit in York never disappoints. We waited ages for our food. When it arrived it was certainly chargrilled. That's all you could taste (burnt). When my husband ordered the sharing platter he was told that they had run out of mushrooms, he asked if he could have some extra onion rings then. He was told no but he would still be charged the full amount. There was nothing else on the menu he wanted. Just before we got our food the waitress said he would get a few extra onion rings. As I said before the food was not good. We will most definitely not be back.

There was a sign on the door saying short staffed, bookings only! Which is fine, we get that! But to go in and have a cocktail, we asked for a Xmas menu and the waiter was more interested in putting his phone on charge, than serving us - the only customers in the restaurant! He was very rude and not at all interested in serving us. There was no atmosphere, no music, just a miserable waiter clearly not feeling up to his job! After feeling so disappointed we decided it’s not the place we want to spend our money!

Short staffed and rude. Aggressive manager. Plenty of better pubs in Winchester to choose from.

40 minutes to get a coffee

An hour for our breakfast to arrive only for one of our dishes to be wrong - we didn’t get a vegetarian smashed avocado ciabatta we got a bacon and avocado ciabatta. And they only offered to refund the difference!



Go somewhere else is my advice!

I was meeting some old uni friends and we came to Slug and Lettuce for cocktails. It was a really nice atmosphere with a chilled vibe. We decided to order the feast for friends platter. When it came out it looked lovely and well presented. I had a piece of my chicken skewer and whilst eating it I thought it was unusual to come out cold. But I expected nothing less and let it slide as it was fairly busy. I understand that the food can't come out pipping hot even though it should. It wasn't until I then looked at my chicken skewer to see that it was cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. I immediately told a member of staff and I felt sick instantly. Fortunately the member of staff was lovely and really sympathetic. She had taken the platter away and got us a new one. We waited however over 15 minutes for another platter to come out. I felt terrible for the young lady as she was by herself serving and running food. Yet as a customer who very rarely complains, I expected more from slug and lettuce. It was shame to see such a thriving business fail on its food front and lacking number of staff working.

Having pre booked we had to wait for our table. It took and hour and a half to get our starters and we only got it after complaining. Another 40 minutes and we had to complain again before our main meal arrived. Other customers had a three course meal and arrived after us. We could have just walked out and the staff did not care. Poor service and always quick to blame anyone or anything else but themselves. Unhelpful staff, poor food and a bad atmosphere. Even the Lois were in a state. We will never go there again!
