Craft table all set ready to explore. We will be looking at mixing the different colours. Talking about the hungry caterpillar and making a craft picture from foam and paint. We will be making him outside using the tyres and acting out the story .

New chairs have arrived Looks lovely.

Really really pleased with the new tables just waiting on the chairs now 😊 they arrived this afternoon so the children helped us take the wrapping off and set them up. Thank you all for your help.

So for our first week back we held transition sessions for all the new children starting. Week two we have had in door sensory messy play, week three we are celebrating st Patrick day, week four we will be planting our vegetables, week five we will be celebrating 50 years of the hungry Caterpillar plus watching DVD’s and writing observations. This is why our weeks go by so quickly.

So today we went on a bug hunt carrying a magnifying glass, pen and paper in hand. The children told me what log to lift and what we might find and this is what we found worms, slugs, snails, eggs and spiders. All the children are getting brave and holding them. We talked about the different kinds of insects that are living in our gardens, their habitat and what they eat. We talked about being kind to animals and how to look after them. We counted the insects we found, wrote it down on paper (mark making) and designed habitats for them. A brilliant morning full of fun learning.

New dressing up outfits, we look a lot for Wally and always reading or acting out Goldilocks and little red riding hood. Nice buy from Morrison’s last night.

I always think it is important to greet children with calming music. straight away when they walk in they stop, listen and walk over to an activity still listening to the music

More messy sensory play today. Monday cornflour, Tuesday printing with paints and today shaving foam with paint. Great for calming, creative, physical play.

We will be exploring this over the summer term.

We don’t pretend that we know it all or that we have all the answers to parents question but what we do offer is a none judgemental listening ear in a welcoming environment.

We have been so lucky to have been able to hold our transition sessions in such wonderful weather, making the most of the outside. Our nursery children have been absolutely amazing, helping the new children out, showing them around and greeting them with a warm welcome. I am so lucky to work in such a wonderful environment where children come first.

Saturday morning spring cleaning the nursery ready for Monday. Hope you all have enjoyed the half term. I'm looking forward to enjoying the nursery garden in this lovely weather and I think I saw Robert bringing back the chickens.
