In November 2016, the adventure commenced for Smither’s Canteen & Cocktails when we purchased an old run-down “Rice” horse trailer from a friend of a friend. The trailer was roadworthy so with some help from my buddy, we were able to tow it to his workshop. That is when the transformation began. The trailer has been stripped, gutted and given a thorough cleaning in order to create an ideal rebuild into a unique and funky food and drink venue.
Smither’s Canteen & Cocktail Bar will be serving fresh and locally produced food as well as hot and cold drinks throughout the day from a fixed pitch location. Evenings and weekends, it transforms into a portable licensed Cocktail Bar where your personal mixologist will serve hard and soft drinks as well as snacks for private functions such as parties and weddings. We took smithers out for a drive on this wonderfully sunny day.
so finally we have overcome a problem that, on the surface, seemed so simple! yet it kept beating us! we came up with some weird and wonderful ideas to sort the problem! but yesterday we took a step back, looked at the problem and solved it with a really quick, basic but solid fix!
we now have stays that keep our top swing door open! :D
now! just to get the rest of the doors open ... for business!

Looking at different Gins for all the wonderful cocktails we will soon be creating! - Zymurgorium: The Brewing Emporium have way too many to choose from! we want them all!!

It's been a long slog & at times bloody frustrating getting our heads round this building malarky. Those in the building trade tend to speak a different language which usually involves lots of words & very little useful content. However, at times you do come across those little nutmegs who are able to demystify the murky waters of construction. I salute & thank these elusive & magical characters profusely for their clarity & most importantly their empathy.
Smithers Canteen & Cocktails (wait for it) is nearly ready - we only have to connect the gas, produce the menu boards & have the trailer covered in Signage. I reckon we will be able to squeeze in a few events during this summer. Thank you all for your patience but please keep watching this space - new photos will soon be on the way. Lee

So it has taken longer than we had hoped, but we finally have more progress to share! Yes... We have (or had after a breif hiccup) electricity!
... We've added a board to the side of the trailer ready for some signage. (thanks again to @cindy bonds for the wonderful logo she created for us)
We have a slightly updated design for our front facing food hatch that we are eager to build.
And we are starting to plan out the lights and decore to provide an adaptable vibe For an ever changing list of events.

very productive couple of days this weekend at the trailer. we've managed to get the lighting fitted and the back swing door measured made and hung. next we have a few tidy up jobs. going around the edges sealing things off and generally making it look a bit tidier.
