Went for my birthday with a friend. Was exceptional, as usual, and had great atmosphere and staff were very attentive. Food portions were very good, and could only manage two courses. Will be going back to sample the Sunday lunchtime menu........�

We had the best time at Smiths last night. From the minute we walked through the door, the service was excellent. The choice of good was good and very good quality. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Took my wife here for her birthday, the food was outstanding and the service excellent. I’d recommend this place 100%.

Took my Aunt to celebrate her 100th Birthday yesterday

The food was fantastic and the best bit of fish I have had.

The staff were attentive and put a candle in my Aunts sweet

I will defiantly go back

They made my 60th birthday very special with a personalised menu and excellent service with a smile. Food was delicious and we were left to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. They were happy for a cake to be brought in and offered to cut it up for us. Would recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion or just for a cosy lunch. Thank you.

The food and service at Smiths is consistently excellent but last night they surpassed themselves when a member of staff, Jess, drove my husband and I home to Hornchurch when we were unable to get a cab, even though it was 1 am and she lives in Ongar! Absolutely top class!!!!

Superb experience

Despite one or two negatives about customer service in reviews I decided I needed the experience.

Booked a table at opening time and when the door was unlocked at 1230 there was a queue on a Thursday lunchtime!

The menu is quite extensive but being a fish restaurant I had to go for that.

I ordered a seafood platter as the main, thank god I didn’t order a starter as the main could have fed three people!

Wonderful selection of crab, cockles, shrimps, smoked salmon, herring, tiger prawns amongst others. Beautifully presented and yes a finger bowl AND a bowl for shells Perfect.

Dessert was a Banofee pavolova which was sweet unsurprisingly but delicious.

Toilets clean, and substantial restaurant and Car park both virtually full by 1400.

Staff were attentive and reasonably rapid in service.

Not a load of cookery but stunning presentation and huge portions too.

Well worth the trip.

No qualms whatsoever giving a 5-star review... the food, the drinks, the venue are all top-notch, but the thing that really stood out for us is the waiting staff! The service is literally second-to-none, and on par with the finest London dining establishments: extremely efficient but non-intrusive, attentive without being laboured or forced, courteous and professional! Every single team member that served us was as good as the next, but a special shout-out to our personal waitress Jodi for making our evening very enjoyable!

It was almost pure perfection in every way ! Customer care , standard and presentation of food , taste , waiting times & environment. My only bone to pick is that I don’t like my drinks being poured by the waiters / waitresses as I do believe the restaurant has a vested interested . I know it’s perceived as part of the service but I wish they wudnt keep topping up my wine glasses

I did ask to leave my bottle on the table and this was respected . They can’t do enough for you otherwise . It’s a definite 10 out of 10 and I am in catering ! The rose wine was excellent . Lobster Thermidor and jumbo tiger prawns the best we’ve tasted !

I had heard many good things about this restaurant and after visiting today, I'm happy to say this place lived up to my expectations. Looking forward to visiting the wapping restaurant now.

I came here last night with my boyfriend and we honestly cannot fault anything. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. I had a surf and turf with scallops and they was cooked to perfection and well the steak cut like butter. My boyfriend got the plaice which was on the specials and he loved it. My second time here and his first and we will definitely be coming back!

Great food, great service, wonderful staff and atmosphere, I’d forgotten how lovely it was here.

It was our anniversary and our dessert came on a plate wishing us happy anniversary which I thought was a great touch.

Great Atmosphere, really attentive staff and very good food. Obviously it’s not cheap, but you pay for quality

Could not fault the food, but the service was slow, people who arrived after us were having their desert and we was still waiting for our main course.

Booked a table for 4 the day before, asked if been before and then advised no children under 12, also if arrived early we could be seated for drinks.

From start to finish very impressive, politeness everywhere, without being pushy.

Food amazing.

Have to say something about the doorman, he went over and above normal duty, he found umbrellas, so no getting wet from door to car. He also thought one of our party had forgotten a jacket, we hadn’t but nice he took notice.

Absolutely fantastic evening spent here last night. The Oysters and hot shellfish platter were incredible. Service was also great. The only slight downside was a large group sat behind us who were very clearly worse for wear and spent the whole evening shouting and swearing but that is not the fault of the restaurant and it did not stop us having a great night.

Absolutely amazing. Food was so so good, cooked to perfection. The ambience beautiful. Loved every moment. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Very disappointed. Having been to smiths several times on various occasions, I simply wanted to book a table for 8 for me & my girlfriends to celebrate two of our 30th birthdays plus the upcoming arrival of two new babies. We wanted a nice girlie dinner mid week... we are not rowdy or loud or big drinkers but the restaurant would not except a booking for more than 6 girls on one table. We wouldn’t have been any louder than 4 girls and 4 guys on a table (which they would allow!)



We will have to take our business elsewhere on this occasion... and all future occasions which is a real shame as until now I loved the restaurant.
