About Snowflake Sailing Club

We are a winter sailing club based in Horning, Norfolk.

We have a variety of boats racing here so come on and join in.

Snowflake Sailing Club Description

Snowflake Sailing Club is an independent sailing club located on the River Bure at the island base of H. S. C in the village of Horning that is in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, England.

We provide a full racing programme on Sundays from the 3rd weekend in October for 23 weeks. The racing is for both dinghies and Keelboats. A series of points racing, down rivers and open meetings are held throughout the season.

In recent years we have started our season with the now well-known Tri-Icicle Race that includes boats with Portsmouth Yardstick handicaps of 1250 or less. This race starts and finishes at Horning with two buoys to round, one at Acle and the other at Potter Heigham. The position and order they are taken in will be announced at the Briefing in the Clubhouse at 9. 30 am. For this event we are usually joined by a good fleet of Cruisers. Full backup facilities are provided to maximise safety. Trophies are provided for all classes of boats.

A popular regatta is held on Boxing Day morning to entice all revellers to compete for the Boxing Day Spoon, the Arthur Mann memorial trophy and the KGFS pennant. This event has always proved popular and a large gathering helps to consume the club brew of Rum punch.
