Meet Kat, founder, owner and salad creator of So Salata.
Having travelled the sea's on yachts as a private chef for 14 years, Kat has experienced some of the most amazing places, cultures and flavours the world has to offer; Costa Rica, Bali, Singapore, the Galapagos Islands & the French Polynesia to name just a few, all of which inspire the dishes she produces today.
Creating meals for guests and crew, where in hot climates salads were always appreciated, the produce from e...ach new port would influence the flavours in the dishes she made for breakfast, lunch & dinner for the next few days at sea. The ingredients would always be fresh and seasonal however sometimes limited so keeping dishes interesting and being creative was a daily challenge, one that she enjoyed.
Alongside her inspiration from her experiences on board and around the world, Kat also has an ambition which is driven from something much closer to home, her dad. Kats dad hated salad, to him salad was boring, tasteless and perceived the main ingredient to be just leaves and sadly there are many others that share this belief.
With the vision of turning this perception of many around Kat has created So Salata to share with you her experiences and her creativity for fresh produce and healthy ingredients, to show that salad can be much more... much more than a side dish, much more than an accompaniment. Salad can be something to crave, it can have the wow factor, it can be the main meal.... and that is what she does 'making salads more'.
