just got back from a wonderful relaxing break, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, lovely food in a restaurant with fantastic sea views, i had 2 spa treatments with a lovely therapist, we swam in the pool and walked the coastal path which has the best sea views we have got home full refreshed and yearning to return soon

Wow, what a fantastic secret this is !! Arrived on a cold, grey Saturday in February to enjoy a super cosy garden room, cream tea in the lounge, swam in the indoor salt water pool, enjoyed a fabulous meal in the modern restaurant whilst listening to Neil Zebedee play piano. Woke to sunshine and a view from the dining room that was breath- taking over classic breakfast. 5* staff, you should all be very proud of what you have to offer. Would love to return in the summer. Highly recommended.

What a lovely place Soar Mill Cove is! Our last night here for our last holiday as a twosome before we become a family of 3. We are so glad we chose this hotel, the scenery is breathtaking, food outstanding and service second to none! Every member of staff we came across have been friendly and attentive and nothing has been too much trouble ( Sophie in the spa was fantastic and so lovely !). Although a small thing, I loved that I had a choice between decaffeinated tea and coffee. Being pregnant and having to avoid caffeine where possible, it was refreshing that you have both as an option. I've found that not

many places do, if at all.



We were lucky enough to have the new Afternoon Tea which was lovely, especially with the view from the dining room. Highly recommend the luxury afternoon tea, especially as the jam for the scones is homemade!



We chose a garden view room where we had a patio which joined onto the garden, although the garden wasn't technically private we felt like we had it all to ourselves. Absolutely stunning hotel in a beautiful area. We are only sad that we have to leave! We definitely will be returning, next time as a family of 3.

What a fantastic hotel in a great location, we stayed in one of the ocean view self catering units at the front of the hotel with great sea views and everything you need in a cottage, eaten in the restaurant 3 times during the week as the food is so good you really don't need to go out, swimming pool also very nice, will definitely be making this a regular location for future holidays

What a beautiful hotel with incredible views. We were made to feel incredibly welcome from the minute we arrived for our spa day. The back neck and shoulder massage was Devine, the coffees delicious and lunch completely surpassed our expectations in presentation and taste - unreal hake!

Would love to stay here one day soon.

We stayed here for my 21st birthday a couple years ago and loved our stay so much! The staff were so friendly and the room was beautiful. The place felt so peaceful and special! I've been saying how much I love the place so much since that my boyfriend took me to the cove on 1st September 2016 and proposed to me on the cliff overlooking the cove and hotel.....I said yes and we had a delicious cream tea at the hotel right after. The hotel and cove will always be a special place for me and my fiancé. We will definitely be returning to the hotel in the future!

We returned yesterday from our honeymoon at soar mill cove and we just can't wait to come back! This hotel is by far the best place we have ever been, staff are so helpful and polite and the whole place has a warm family feel to it. Our room had the most amazing view imaginable and was immaculate, the breakfast and restaurant food and service was second to none. The treatments we received on Tuesday were amazing, the girls in the spa were so sweet and these treatments were by far the best I'd ever had, they even converted my very sceptical new husband that spas are relaxing! A special mention must go to Matt on reception, who was so polite and helpful at all times, I have to say the highlight of our stay was our evening meal in the restaurant on Wednesday night, there was a lovely chap playing the piano, we both thoroughly enjoyed this and it made our evening! Thank you so much to all the staff at soar mill for giving us the best 4 days for our honeymoon, we will definitely be seeing you soon! �

We have just spent three nights at this magical hideaway hotel for our 20th wedding anniversary. What a wonderful break it has been. We arrived in mist and drizzle unable to see much at all but were feeling excited at the prospect of exploring this area. However the lovely warm welcome we received certainly dried up any dampness and it was soon put behind us. Since then, the whole stay has been perfect. The sun has shone each day to light up everyone's spirits and display the view from much of the hotel showing it at its very best. All the staff are exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so very much. A special mention goes to Becky (good luck for September!�) and also to Sylvester and his lovely wife, Eddy, who were all so warm and friendly.

The huge room we had with garden access enabled our partially sighted Labrador to negotiate his way around without knocking anything over, and the food..... well, it has been a feast. Flavours and presentation were excellent and the portion sizes perfect too. We have walked and walked up hill and down dale (pretending that it would be enough to stave off any extra pounds gained)! We've used the gym and the lovely pool and had delightful massages (surprise gifts from our daughters!) for our aching muscles too! Thank you so much to everyone for this wonderful stay. We will definitely return.

We have had 2 nights stay for a wedding. And everything was just perfect. Our room was very clean, the staff were very friendly and so helpful. The food was out of this world! 5 star rating from us. The wedding was perfect and very well organised. Thank you.

We didn't stay but stopped off for lunch after a long coastal walk. It was so delicious we booked to have dinner a few nights later. The food was sublime and the staff are wonderful. We loved the hotel interior and the views. We will definitely return for a few nights next time we visit Devon.

In this crazy world of today we want to take time to say thank you to Soar Mill Cove for giving us chance to have such a relaxing day with the champagne afternoon tea in such beautiful surroundings with stunning scenery.

Local produce is used as well as the delicious cakes that the chef makes. We understand he even makes his own jam and marmalade.

Only criticism was that things didnt get replenished in rooms with much efficiency.. towels etc. Cleaning of room was impeccable. An absolute treat . Stayed with 2 teens and dog and all seemed equally welcome. A lovely place with lovely, friendly, caring owners. Well done Makepeace family - your hotel is an absolute family-run delight.

Absolutely loved the place. Wanted somewhere quiet and chilled to relax with my partner for a couple of days and this was perfect. Staff are friendly and professional, views are out of this world and the food.....just amazing. Highly recommended and we will be back.
