It's a nice quiet day on the railway today - we're open until 3:30pm with last tickets at 3pm.
Pop in for a train driving adventure!

FAQ’s
We’ve had lots of new visitors recently and thought we’d put together some of the most commonly asked questions:
Q) What time do you close?... A) 3:30pm, However last tickets are issued at 3pm. If you arrive after 3pm we cannot promise you can drive a train.
Q) Why are you only open at weekends? A) Because we have other jobs in the week!
Q) How old do you have to be to drive a train A) We usually say from 2yrs - 100yrs old, however we'd consider letting a 101yr old driving too :)
Q) How long did it take to build the railway? A) We've been here 6yrs and we're still building it!!
Q) I want a railway in my garden, is it expensive to do? A) If you want to spend a lot of money you can do. However there are cheaper ways of doing it - speak to us!
Q) Do you host Birthday Parties? A) Unfortunately not. We don't run in high winds and rain. Additionally we have to be considerate of our neighbours.

If you are not coming to play with our Trains this weekend please consider visiting the Great Central Railway - Nottingham.
In the last few weeks they've been repeatedly hit by vandals causing £80,000 worth of damage. It's awful, however the volounteers there will not be beaten and continue to put on a good show with a smile. It's a great railway to visit with the bonus of also being home to some great miniature ride on railways.

We have a vacancy for waiting and ticket office staff.
Duties involve working on the railway with our young visitors and in our tearoom serving customers.
Weekend and Bank Holiday availability is essential. Availability in school holidays is desirable.
... The Railway and Tearoom can be busy in the summer, applicants should be comfortable following instructions and working autonomously. Previous employment experience in a retail/tourist environment would be advantageous.

Yes it’s a little chilly and overcast but for one little train driver that means an extra long drive on our mainline!
There are perks to visiting us on an overcast day!!

The ticket office is set up and ready for the day!

Fingers crossed this storm has passed - we're looking forward to Coffee, Trains and Ice Cream tomorrow!

We’re closed today due to storm Hannah. The winds are too strong and will blow the trains off the track.
Currently we expect to be open tomorrow

We are keeping a close eye on Storm Hannah, she may produce gusts of wind strong enough to blow over the train !

We run trains in the Snow, Night and of course the Sunshine!
However we cannot run in rain and heavy wind.
