Solihull Independent Travel Training

We provide personalised training to teach a person to travel to and from their destination on their own, whether it be school, college or work.

Independent Travel Training is extremely beneficial. Being able to access public transport helps people make their own choices about how they live and what they want to achieve. It provides vital skills that will:

- Build independence and self esteem.
- Improve social skills.
- Give more choices in life.

How does it work?

- We plan a route to match the person's needs.
- We carry out a risk assessment of the route.
- The route is agreed with parents /carers and the trainee.
- We travel with the person to build their skills and develop their confidence.
- We work at the pace of the individual.

Where does it happen?

Our travel trainers work with people throughout Solihull. We can teach individual routes to and from:
- School
- College
- Work
- Community centres
- Education centres
