SBC offer a variety of ways to get on or be near the water and have some fun. We offer canoes, kayaks, self-drive motorboats and a chartered narrowboat.

A challenging but successful day on the water today. We’ve run Somersun onto the River Tone in the heart of Taunton, the team have been ‘ditch crawling’ today as this section of canal desperately needs dredging! Well done John and Dave for following in ‘Gem’. The positive news is we will be bringing the narrowboat and the wheelchair accessible boat into Taunton for a weekend soon and offering 15min boat trips along the Tone from the Brewhouse pontoon to French Weir and return for £3 per person (wheelchair friendly boat £5 per person) Dates will be released soon. We’ve got 5 spaces available on next Wednesdays fish and chip supper cruise. We will be leaving Lower Maunsel Lock at 17:30 and returning at 19:45 (approx). Cruise, Food, Tea/Coffee included for only £18.50 per person.

Somerset Boat Centre has received its latest award - we’ve gained the quality mark as an activity provider for British Canoeing, this means we operate to high standards for schools, hire craft, group sessions, guided and journeying activities.

Lots of fun, laughter and learning this weekend. We’ve hosted #GuidingSomerset for an activity day, ten skill sets from Stand Ups to Narrowboat driving check out their page at Girlguiding Somerset.
We’ve also just completed stage one trials on Zummerzet and the results are positive, we’re now clear to finalise the fit out ready for final testing Wednesday. A big thank you to Sarah Phippen and the volunteers who came out this afternoon and gave great feedback.

Another good day on the #canal today, we’ve completed the test runs for the ‘Fish and Chip Supper Cruise’ and the logistics work for us so we’re good to go. WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY BOAT UPDATE
We’ve been working hard on the fit out of ‘Zummerzet’ into a wheelchair accessible boat.
The engineering side is done and we’ve just completed test runs down the canal. We will start trials and safety sign-offs this week so we’re looking good to start operational service 1st April.

Looks like the winds finally dropping after tonight and the suns going to visit us tomorrow, if you’re not busy repairing the garden fence our Narrowboat Somersun will be available for a 1h 15min trip from Maunsel Lock Teashop @ 14:00. We have 12 places available at £9 per person, but be fast these won't be available for long. Team SBC.
What a great place, Ryan is so helpful and the facilities are spotless.
I hired a day boat for 3hrs with my daughter and had a great time. If you are worried about how to work the locks and a swing bridge then don’t be they are so easy to do and most of the time you will find other people will jump at the chance to help you. I had an old chap with his dog help push the swing bridge open and by the time I moved the boat he had already pushed it back again.
Have a go it’s an experience to share with all the family.
We had such a great afternoon. So good to get my 14yr old off his PlayStation, out into the fresh air & learning a new skill. Great boat & fantastic teaching. Thank you Ryan

Great spot, great facilities and super helpful service. Took my kid out on a 2 man kayak. He loved it. We'll definitely be going back.
