South Downs Planetarium Description
The Southdowns Planetarium and Science Centre is a charitable organisation set up to promote science and, in particular, Astronomy.
Based in Chichester the Planetarium provides Public Shows on Astronomy on selected days, including most Sunday, Fridays and school holidays, all presented by the very knowledgeable Dr John Mason. Its primary aim is, however, to provide educational support in science to visiting schools from West Sussex and Hampshire.
The Charitable Trust is a self funded organisation and any support you can provide is most welcome.
Visiting a public show is not only fascinating but helps support science education in the area.

Nothing to be alarmed about....
As part of Selsey Walking Festival, you can attend a one-off lecture by our very own Dr. John Mason!
As part of the Selsey Walking Festival 2018, we led a fascinating guided tour of the night sky along Selsey shore tonight. Although it was a misty night, the views were stunning. Jupiter was particularly spectacular and so bright, it is visible on camera. We even waved to the astronauts onboard the ISS as it passed overhead!
Such an amazing planetarium, the staff are so knowledgeable and passionate. A must for all ages.
Such a brilliant place. Just seen the Tim Peake show and so excited to see The Star of Bethlehem
Lovely afternoon, wish I lived closer because I'd defo want to be a part of this!!
Just come back from visiting. Absolutely brilliant school trip. Caters for everyone and the staff are brilliant!! Highly recommend!
Just been to an excellent show on "the Star of Bethlehem" here. So good we are going again! A lot of interesting information, and the planetarium is able to show the sky 2000 years ago just as the Wise Men would have seen it. Dr John Mason is a truly gifted and knowledgeable presenter.
I'm booking for next week .looking forward to it.
I loved it and will be back for more , my husband couldn't resist falling asleep in your comfortable chairs!!!

All the presentations we have been to have been very interesting and the new Full Dome show is awesome. The presenter, Dr Mason, is very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for Astronomy is inspiring.
