South West Region Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) is one of six regions that makes up the RAFAC, a volunteer-military youth organisation, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Air Force. The RAFAC mission is to: - Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people. - Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life. - Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship. The RAFAC delivers the Air Cadet experience to young people of all background with volunteers at local and regional level across the country. South West Region comprised of six Wings Plymouth and Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and Thames Valley. The RAFAC offers great opportunities for Young People as well as to Adult Volunteers, offering training and experience in leadership and management. The volunteering experience can be formalised with an internationally recognised qualification through City & Guilds or the Institute of Leadership Management (ILM). The programmes range from Level 2 through to Level 7. Volunteers have the opportunity to undertake rewarding roles with opportunities to progress within the Management of the Organisation or gain specialist qualifications in one of the many disciplines the Air Cadets deliver to Young People.
