Here's our top 5️⃣ safety tips for anybody who is marking the day - tag a mate who'll be celebrating.. 👇
1️⃣ Always place divas/diyas, tea lights and candles on heat-resistant surfaces and well away from curtains and decorations. ... 2️⃣ Children and pets should be supervised at all times near flames. 3️⃣ Don't let yourself get distracted whilst cooking - this is a leading cause of fire! 4️⃣ If a pan with oil catches fire - don't throw water on it. Get out, stay out and call 999 urgently. 5️⃣ Make sure, if you're using fireworks, that they meet British Safety Standards and never go back to one once it has been lit.

It's always a bit of fun - until someone gets hurt! Here's our 4️⃣ top tips for keeping yourself, and your kids, safe this Bonfire Night.
1️⃣ Speak to your kids about the potential consequences of playing with fire - a 5 minute chat is all it takes. 🗣️ 2️⃣ Make sure you bring your wheelie bins in - don't leave them out overnight as they can be a target for arson. 🔥 3️⃣ Go to organised firework and bonfire displays as they're bigger, better and safer. 🎆... 4️⃣ If you do have a bonfire yourself, keep it away from trees, bushes, sheds and fences, and never use accellerants to get it going! 🌲

ICYMI: We were left appalled last week after some of our firefighters were attacked whilst attending a house fire in #Sheffield - putting them in danger whilst they were trying to save lives. 😡😥
With Bonfire Night upon us we're urging parents, elder siblings, aunts, uncles, and anybody else with a responsibility for young people, to speak to them about the dangers of playing with fire - and also getting involved with stuff like this. 👇🔥
Messing around with fire and fireworks... might seem fun, but it can have serious consequences - a five minute conversation can help us ensure they don't end up in a cell, or even a hospital bed, tonight.

FIRE: Here are some great photos from the scrap yard fire in Royston, Barnsley on Saturday morning. 🔥📷

Fire crews are tackling a large rubbish fire on East Earshaw Street, Sheffield. 🚒
As there is a lot of smoke in the area, local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed until the smoke has cleared. 👍👩‍🚒

🚒 The role of a firefighter can be physically demanding so training of this nature is essential for crews to be able to carry out their job in challenging situations.

Three fire crews were attacked last night while responding to a fire on Lifford Street, Sheffield. Objects including fireworks and eggs were thrown at crews as they were tackling a house fire.

Our fire cadets recently visited Rotherham Town Hall to present a £175 cheque to the Mayor's Charities. The money was raised at an open day held at Rotherham station earlier this year.

INCIDENT UPDATE: Crews remain on the scene at St. Lawrence Road and continue to fight the fire. The fire is largely contained to one flat located on the second floor of the building. A multi-agency investigation into the cause of the incident will take place once the fire is out.

FIRE: A man has been led to safety by Rotherham firefighters following a fire at his flat in Canklow, Rotherham last night. 🔥
Control room staff gave him fire survival guidance ☎️ until crews arrived at the scene.

🐴25 year old William had a long face over the weekend after he'd got himself stuck in a ditch in Ravenfield, Rotherham.
🚒Firefighters from Maltby, Tankersley and Adwick were fortunately able to un-stick William with neigh bother. Vets said that he was very lucky thanks to the swift actions of our crews. His owners were extremely grateful!

Our latest group of firefighter recruits have undergone training this week on road traffic collisons (RTC). 🚙
They carried out a mock RTC rescue by cutting the roof off a car and safely removed the casualty from the vehicle 👩‍🚒🚒

Rivelin station are holding their free Superjam tea party today which will include live entertainment from Stevie Moore & Patricia Lynn.
