Very efficient, friendly helpful staff and the perfect airport to use for a short break.

Speedy/friendly security and a clean/modern airport. I'm used to flying from Stansted, which I tend to compare to a jungle, so Southend Airport has been a welcome change and I would recommend to others.

My favourite airport by far...obviously as its local to me, its so easy to get to. As its still small its so efficient to get through straight to the plane. Lakers lounge is perfect, serving gorgeous food quickly. The staff at the airport are all efficient and professional. I use the airport at least once a year...

Many future trips will be determined by whether I can fly from Southend - it’s such a lovely airport and makes the start of any trip stress free!

It's great having an airport not far from my home. I've flown from there a few times. It is well put together. Excellent signage so you know where you are going. Clean toilets which is handy if you are traveling with kids. The only suggestion I could make is to move the security information media screens about liquids, taking shoes off and taking out laptops to the area where people get rid of excess liquids so people are ready and mentally prepared for security. It might shorten the time spent in security. That said, I found the security people helpful and informative. Even though Southend is a small Airport the standard of security screening is world class. Felt safer. The duty-free shopping is woefully narrow. It would be lovely to sell the region and Brand Britain better. There is a good selection of food outlets in departures able to cater to diverse tastes. I quite like that the whole airport from entrance to departures has wheelchair access. All the times I've been there all the elevators and escalators were in perfect working order. So it's disability friendly.

I have only used Southend Airport a couple of times but it is easy to get here, check in and security is quick and there are no long treks to get to departures. Once there you can relax in a quiet lounge with a lovely cup of coffee. The only down side is that the first train gets in too late for my flight so this time I had to drive, but it was exceptionally easy and with an efficient transfer from the car park. It’s the most hassle free and pleasant experience I have had at an airport.

I have flown from here many times and always find it very easy and quick. Parking or coming by train from Stratford is super easy too. I'll always fly from Southend to Spain or Portugal.

Great quick service. Flew out of & into for our holiday & it was nice & easy to get through each section.

Will definitely choose again!

Airport is fine. Clean, fresh, comfortable, it's the bloody awful music eminating from Bourgee that spoils it. Blasting loudly, actually. No escaping it.

User

It was ok to use the Southend airport simply because it's close to Essex area of London if main, but the problem is that "flybe"was late for a super good 3hrs delayed, while waiting you gotta to spend like hell buying unnecessary in the restaurant with for a pint of or any other stuff to keep you off exhausting. Prompt and accuracy is needed to improve this airport security measures.

It was a very relaxing experience

Up to the point were to get a cup of coffee meant a 25 minute wait while one lady attempted to serve all the early flights

Get more staff

And we have not found your new bar which turns out serves coffee by accident

No signs!! To it

Skeleton crew of sad jobsworths (and obviously former supermarket checkers) in the security hall. My cufflinks set off the alarm so I was made to remove my shoes. Go figure. Gate crew (for EasyJet) making women stuff their purses into their carry on luggage and then asking them to put their obviously small enough bags into the carry on size checker contraption. If it weren't for the convenience, I would pass on this Podunk airport and the simpletons who are running the show.

Picked up my daughter from school trip. £4.50 for a 32 minute stay at 10 pm on a Sunday night in short term car park as delayed waiting for whole group to get through. Same as cost for central London. Not impressed.

User

why are there flights at 7.40 to rennes for example if you can't get to the airport by public transport. The airport is locked until 4am. You either have to shell out loads of cash for a hotel, car parking or a taxi. What a rip off.

The web site says there is a direct train from Liverpool street station to the airport every 30 mins on Sundays. I had a nasty surprise this morning when I went to the station to get my direct train tickets and the woman from the information desk told me that there aren't direct trains to the airport during weekends and my journey will take 2 hours and 1 underground, 1 bus and 1 train or 51£ taxi (1h). I feel completely fooled as I chose #flybe and #southendairport after checking that there were direct trains. I will never make this mistake again, definitely never flying from this airport again.

Quite the worst airport I have ever been in. No food or coffee facilities for arrivals - indifferent staff and no comfortable seats. Have been at better airports in third world countries. I had previously thought the Stobart name was associated with quality and service. NOT SO!!!

Got delayed on easyJet flight to Ibiza by 4hrs 20mins. Restaurants closed early and no alcohol after 7pm. The food was poor quality as was the alcohol when it was being sold.

Was not kept informed by easyJet and the attitude of those in charge was very poor and unnecessarily defensive.

Are you serious closing the airport from 0:00 to 4:00 AM knowing that the first train in the morning arrives to the airport at 8:18? Really?? In the 21st century? No other means of public transportation from London except the cabs!? There are no other ways to get to the airport to catch the flight at 6:30 so we spent 4 hours outside the airport in the middle of the night without place to sit or keep warm. Unbelievable. Thank you Southend Airport, not anymore!
