About Southend Barns - Wedding Venue
Set on a working farm in the stunning Sussex countryside, Southend Barns has been beautifully restored to radiate rustic charm. Surrounded by landscaped gardens and tranquil courtyards, it is a truly idyllic setting for any wedding.
Southend Barns - Wedding Venue Description
Set on a working farm in the stunning West Sussex countryside, the converted farm buildings and beautiful landscaped gardens are built and run using the latest environmentally sustainable technology.
The lovingly restored barn complex features a magnificent 200-year-old Threshing Barn, which radiates rustic charm with authentic wooden beams and iron wrought chandeliers. This combined with stylish contemporary touches, such as the unique concrete polished floor make the barn an ideal venue for any wedding party. The barn can accommodate up to 150 for a sit down meal which is catered for by the much-coveted team at Field & Fork.
Sitting adjacent to this is the Dairy Barn, which is fully licensed for all civil ceremonies and partnerships. With a wonderful sweeping 22 metre aisle and handmade sweet chestnut benches that can seat up to 150, the barn is an idyllic setting for loved ones to exchange their vows.
Couples can also make use of the calm and luxurious surroundings of the bridal suite, which is located in its own private courtyard. Once used as a dairy parlour it has now been revamped with contemporary interiors complete with driftwood mirrors, lavish rugs and log fire, which will be lit and ready for the couple’s return with a bottle of local Tinwood Sparkling Wine.
There is ample outdoor space with a picturesque courtyard that lies at the heart of the venue, with its luscious lawn, well-kept pots and Cornish slate patio lined with dairy inspired milk churns – it is the perfect spot for photographs and for mingling with guests over drinks and canapés.
As evening falls, the gardens are lit with romantic up-lights that show off the fantastic flint and log walls of the wedding barns. Here guests can gather around the relaxing Collecting Yard with its sumptuous sofas and fire pits to enjoy a truly magical evening setting; the perfect end to a perfect day.

What a fabulous location for the Perfect Wedding...simply divine, friendly staff, fantastic food, and a very romantic venue....HIGHLY recommend this venue to any couples looking for that 'special place' - Chapel on site, reception on site, lounge areas, inside and outside on site, open fires to take the evening chill away on site...PERFECT !
We were lucky enough to get married here on a super rainy Friday in March. I really do recommend this venue if you're worried about the weather - honestly, we barely noticed. The team at Southend Barns were so friendly right from the start; we knew straight away it was the venue for us. We could go and visit the venue as much as we wanted and there was always someone on hand to answer our (my) many questions. On the day, my husband and I had to do nothing, it was all in hand. The team had decorated the barns beautifully with the bits and bobs we'd dropped off and our suppliers (our talented family) were welcomed and supported. The rain was relentless nearly all day but guests (and the bride) were kept shielded with the umbrellas all day. The venue is so beautiful it even looked romantic and cosy in the pouring rain! The undercover outside area proved to be quite popular, especially in the evening with the firepit and marshmallows. It wasn't quite the day we'd imagined (who would imagine rain) but it was the most perfect day, which I don't think would have been achieved as effortlessly at any other venue. Thank you - we hope to come back again soon!

We got married in November at Southend Barns and it was truly amazing. The venue is absolutely stunning, immaculate and all of our guests commented on how beautiful it was. The staff were incredible. So helpful, efficient and could never do enough for us. The caterers were extremely helpful on the lead up to the day and the food was sublime. I honestly cannot fault this venue at all and would recommend it to anyone. Our day ran so smoothly and that was all down to Rob, Laura and their team. We cannot thank you enough. We got married at Southend Barns on 3rd August 2018.
The most important thing for us was always the venue; as well as having all the essentials, it had to all be in one place to save travelling between venues, it had to have a bit of a "wow" factor and it needed to accommodate around 100 guests of all ages.
We viewed a handful of venues but Southend Barns won hands-down because of the outside space and the friendly and welcoming staff.
We got married inside - as it was 30C degrees and didn't want our guests to burn/die of heatstroke - but the recently-built outside ceremony area is absolutely stunning, so we would recommend booking a viewing even just to see it!
The venue is absolutely flawless, the staff are extremely organised and catered for our (very specific) needs! My husband sang me down the aisle and they made sure everything was in place to make this possible, including several practice runs.
Alice was absolutely brilliant. She completely put us both at ease and on the day she kept my husband calm and collected beforehand. Every detail was thought of, and - whilst that means more time planning the day - it meant that we all knew what was happening and literally EVERYTHING went to plan. Not one thing went wrong and we just couldn't believe how smoothly the whole day went.
Thank you SO much for hosting us and all our guests, for organising the big day and giving us the most stress-free and perfect wedding possible!
Was at my cousin wedding yesterday and it was absolutely beautiful x 👌🏽the food was amazing , staff were very lovely and polite . The only bad thing they charged my daughter £2 for a can of coke 👎🏽 Which is disgusting when can in the shop r like 50p but a part frm that It was brilliant x

Our beautiful wedding venue! From the moment we saw Southend Barns we knew we couldn’t get married anywhere else. It is absolutely perfect. Alice and the team delivered an outstanding service and put my mind at rest through the entire process by answering my MANY questions and offering their professional advice along the way. Rob and Janet were fantastic from the fully comprehensive catering meeting to the day itself (hope your finger has healed Rob) and the food itself was out of this world! The venue is stunning and suited our autumnal bonfire night theme perfectly from the fire pits to the cosy barn. We honestly had the perfect day and just wish we could do it all over again. What can we say! Not only is it a stunning place, the staff are incredible, they go beyond your expectations to make everything perfect for you. Whether that be in the emails leading up to the day, the endless phone calls with silly questions, the drop off or the big day. They are just fantastic. The staff were just amazing on our big day and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! SOO many of our guests said what an amazing venue it is....My bridal MUA who does hundreds of weddings said it was in her top 5 venues...now that says it all to me!!!
We will always be thankful to all at SEB for all your did for our wedding, and to any future bride & grooms we cant recommend them enough!

The setting is beautiful, the staff have always been incredibly helpful and the sound/space for bands and Djs is perfectly set up!
Having played lots of weddings with my band there over the years, the staff have always been always lovely. Recently I got to attend a wedding as a guest there and was knocked out by how lovely it all was, lovely ceremony room, warm and inviting reception room, friendly staff and the food was fantastic. A real gem of a venue.
From the moment you first visit the barns, Field and Fork and lovely very caring staff be assured that what you'll led to believe you'll get on your day you will. Even if it rains you'll still have cover, heat,blankets and Marshmallows in a Fire Pit !
