You Wait ages to see a doctor.

Good doctor.

It's a hit and miss with this surgery. The waiting time to see your GP is a minimum wait of 2 weeks, in some cases this is ridiculous if you do have something wrong with you that you want sorting out. However Doctor Delves is the best doctor I've seen in my life, she listens and fully puts herself in your shoes. I've had more progress with my health than I have had with any other doctor. Some doctors on the other hand are just rude, especially yesterday when I was told I was being "unreasonable" for requesting inhalers on a Friday afternoon (11am I requested them) but she wouldn't let me explain I actually requested them Wednesday morning but was being passed pillar to post so the note didn't get to her until Friday. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and have mentioned to the GP and the reception that being kept waiting in a waiting room full of people trigger these (as well as lots of other triggers, such as their awful background music, loud giggly receptionist! and impatient crying kids and the constant mobile phone noises) ....however despite this I have on all the appointments booked in the last 3 years have been kept waiting between 30 mins to an hour and 15 mins over my appointment time. This is, in my opinion unacceptable and shows very poor communication between the surgery and the patient. If the reception staff informed patients of GP's running late times they could make an informed decision whether to sit and wait or re-book or come back at a later time. Terrible communication and GP's seem to think a "sorry for keeping you waiting" (if your lucky) makes it ok...well for me it doesn't..especially as I have to come from Middleton through the heavy traffic at Southgates roundabout only to fight my way home again after not getting to see GP because I refuse to sit and wait for another half hour or more...they complain if we don't turn up for appointments...time they showed us the respect we deserve and listen to us and start working as a team instead of blaming each other!!!

I can not speak more highly off the staff and doctors at Southgate's Medical Centre . Both my parents were registered there for over 30years and I will not have a bad word said about them. Dr K Connelly walks on water as far as we are concerned as does nurse Bevery Perryman. They bother went above and beyond what I would call normal care, in the care of my late father who died in May. The pharmacy and reception staff were always most helpful and would do what they could to help. I would recommend this surgery to all who want good old fashioned service with up to date methods.
