Went to see the panto today (27th Dec). The staff were very helpful and polite front of house. The panto itself was fantastic! Sam Kane as Buttons was brilliant as were the ugly sisters. The humour and songs were just right for the whole family! Can't recommend enough. Well done everyone! Looking forward to next year's panto already!

We had an awesome evening at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre last night. Some Guys Have All The Luck was absolutely brilliant! We have been to many shows that claim to have the audience dancing in the aisles and this can be noted to be one of them!

The staff at the STCC are wonderful! So friendly, warm, knowledgeable and accommodating. Special thanks and praise goes to Alex, Berna and Wendy, you are a credit to the STCC and I hope that you are truly appreciated!

We are looking forward to many more evenings of fun and entertainment in the future!

Watched Les’s Bay City Rollers last night, was absolutely fab! Been to Ltd of theatres and can honestly say, this is a superb facility! Will definitely be back 👍

Totally THE BEST panto yet. I went with my husband, our 5 kids and our mums. Everyone had a great time even our teenage lads. We thought the elixir part was very clever.

If you haven't been you seriously need to. We've not laughed so much at a panto.

Thanks for a great night and we'll done to all the cast.

Southport Visiter reviewer Nicola Kenyon said: "The review of this year’s pantomime at Southport Theatre could be kept very short. Quite simply, it is the best pantomime I have seen at the venue in years."

The full review is in today's Southport Visiter, and is also on the southportvisiter website

Saw Russell Brand last night and we were VERY impressed, not only with the funniest guy ever, but from the reaction after the terror in Manchester the night before.

They put in place extra staff, security, bag checking and Russell himself came on stage before hand to address the situation that was on everyone's mind. He put us all at ease, said some amazing things (like he does) and then went on to donate the ticket cost for the whole theatre to the events that took place in Manchester!

Overall the experience was amazing, and just what we needed to give us belly laughs and a sense of togetherness at a time when we all need to feel that community feel.

Well done to all of the staff for carrying on regardless and creating a seamless event!

Just got back from watching Cinderella and all I can say is brilliant. Honestly haven’t laughed that much in a long time. Very current and relevant and will definitely return next year but I now have high expectations!! Thanks for a great couple of hours

User

I have never been to this theatre before and was worried about sitting in the back stalls. We sat on ROW W and had such an awesome time. Thoroughly enjoyed the pantomime Cinderella - best one in ages

Huge thank you to the theatre for the tickets to see 'The Carpenters Story' that I won on facebook. Had a fantastic night. The show was brilliant and all the staff were very helpful and cheerful. It had been a hot day outside but inside the theatre was very comfortable and cool.

Thank you.

Sue and Jamie.

Fantastic Panto this year. It was funny & current. We thought the entire cast was brilliant but buttons was definitely our sons favourite especially as he was lucky enough to go up on stage on Boxing Day with Buttons. Then a lovely lady in the audience came over to our seat at the end and gave our son a £20 donation for Ormskirk Neonatal Unit as our son fundraisers for them.

He said the whole day had been brilliant xx

As a special treat for my daughter who turns 6 on Christmas Day, we went to watch Cinderella.

Everything was perfect from start to finish.

Welcoming and helpful front of house staff who directed us to our seats and even rejigged seating (without being asked) so all the children in our group could clearly see the stage.

The show itself was amazing. Plenty of humour to keep the adults entertained.

The children loved the music but most of all the hilarious Ugly Sisters and Buttons.

Prior to the show we asked if we could give my daughters details so that she could have a special birthday shout out.

Buttons made my daughters day by giving her a special birthday shout out. She was over the moon!

Thank you so much to the Theatre team & the cast of Cinderella for making the day so wonderful

Went to see Macca the concert. It was an exceptionally cold night and the theatre was freezing. I kept my coat on all night, something I have never done before either in Southport or any other Theatre. The event was very poorly attended, could have been the bad weather, snow in places but there were no problems in the immediate or surrounding area. The show was good, but did lack atmosphere. I felt sorry for the people performing to so few people. The drinks are rather expensive and the venue is starting to look a little shabby. I did read a review saying it’s due for a refurb- when will this happen? Hope to see this Theatre back to its best in the not too distant future.

Went to see Dr Hook. Tickets said 7:30 which we presumed was when the doors opened. We got there at 7:45 for a steward to say they had been on for half an hour and we've missed half of it. It turned out he had been on 5 minutes. The staff were continuously telling people to sit, don't get phones out etc. Thankfully 3 quarters of the audience stood up dancing which infuriated the staff. I appreciate there's people who don't want to dance or can't but it was a pop concert! The bar was horrendous at the interval. on a plus note the theatre is lovely and comfortable.

User

I've just booked 6 tickets for a dance festival that our 5 year olds are participating in. Tickets are priced at £8 each but your booking fees are ridiculously unacceptable. Ticket prices come to £48.00 but with fees on top I had to pay £63.05.

Booking fees of £15.05 is extortionate.

User

Attended Dr Hook last night. Concert itself was fab. This was a special occasion paid for by my daughter. On arrival we bought drinks and ordered drinks for the interval. We purposely did this so we could celebrate together as a family in a relaxed manner. When we went to collect our drinks they were not anywhere to be seen. We told a member of staff who disappeared, when she finally returned she said we would have to go to the bar and reorder them. By this time the warning bell had gone. The attitude was not very helpful. I asked to see the house manager. The lady I spoke to said they were very busy and short staffed. I said that was no excuse and obviously someone had taken our drinks. ( the value of which was £41) she asked me to see her at the end of the performance. At the end I asked an usher to see the house manager and I was directed to someone different from before. Again I expressed my disappointment at the situation and the way it was handled. After a lengthy discussion I was given £10 as a gesture of goodwill. The ushers were very abrupt with the audience and quite intimidating when asking people to switch off their phones.

User

Just been on to book the panto as I take the granchildren every year and where we normally sit in row c or d the price is £24 + each I couldnt believe it I normally pay around £10 each I think it had gone up slightly last year to £11 or 12 but £24 come on for the five of us thats £120 plus fees. Sorry Southport theatre but we wont be coming this year , thats a ridiculous price

User

I have emailed the southport convention centre this morning already..to tell them how hideous the staff there are. no problem showing the contents of my bag whatsoever..but the security guards were intimidating and that was just the lady ones. the lady who showed us where our seats were was too busy bellowing for another announcement to be made to show us properly where the seats were. bouncers telling people off for having their phones on to take photos..bouncers telling ladies off for getting up to dance..god forbid if you wanted to enjoy the music....but the final straw for me was when I got my phone out a bright torch was shone on me and the vile woman did the cut off motion across her neck. I felt like a bloody criminal..cheeky cow..i would never ever step foot in that hideous place again...i recorded another artist at MEN arena and nobody bothered..im not copying the video to sell..just wanted a memory of a good night out. shame on you southport convention staff...all miserable wanna be hard knock bouncers.

User

Attended 60's show last night, great show as usual, enjoying the music so much that myself & my husband got up to dance at the front of the theatre, at the far left of the stage, with nobody near us or not blocking anyone's view. An usher, or should I say Jobsworth came & told us to sit down, when my husband asked why, he used the phrase "you're not allowed out of your seats!!" We went back to our seats, B1 & B2, (we chose these seats so that we wouldn't disturb anyone's enjoyment if we got up to dance.) We returned to our seats & I danced at my seat, again the same person told me to sit down, why?? there were no people behind us for the next 4 rows, what was the problem?? The seats were restricted viewing so people would be looking to the left to see the performance, not straight ahead, so there was no chance of me spoiling anyone's enjoyment. At the finale, the performers invited the audience to get up & dance, to which the audience were shoting "we're not allowed!!" My husband complained to the duty manager, who wasn't in the least bit interested in our opinions, suggesting we were blocking people's view. (which was utter rubbish,) or maybe the usher was new!! We attend these concerts to have fun do Southport Theatre know the meaning of the word?? We will not be coming to this venue again & are taking our address off the mailing list, we're sticking to Liverpool venues where we're encouraged to get up & dance.
