About Sparrowhawk
A variety of artisan meads made in Johnson's Meadery, Yeovil, Somerset. This includes metheglyns and melomels, which are light-bodied and not too sweet.
Sparrowhawk Description
Read a historical or fantasy book or watch similar films, and eventually you may come across mead. In real life, however it is quite rare, so in order to try it, I decided to make it. Back in 2013, I taught myself about brewing, winemaking and mead and started homebrewing. My first batch wasn't great, but my second was pretty good, according to several people, including some wine buffs. As a result, I decided to go commercial.
I opened Johnson's Meadery in 2014 and rolled out my first batch of melomels and a metheglyn. My market research showed that local retailers would be interested in it, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Swapping over to retail carried with it hefty fees, and along with a slew of problems including poor footfall at markets and changes in regulations, I was forced to close at the start of 2016.
However. . . I'm back! I've still got my old stock, which was drinkable at 4 months old, but is now even better! I've finally found a courier company who will legally deliver alcohol, and I may even be able to advertise!
