Specialist Cheesemakers Association

About Specialist Cheesemakers Association

The SCA is an alliance of cheesemakers, retailers, wholesalers and cheese lovers that share ideas and aim to increase sales of British cheeses.

Specialist Cheesemakers Association Description

As well as providing a common voice to Government and media, our objectives are to encourage excellence in cheesemaking, raise the profile of traditional British cheeses, and to provide a forum for members to exchange ideas. The SCA provides help with any quality or hygiene problems and advice on food safety management.

The SCA publishes ‘The Specialist Cheesemakers Code of Best Practice’, which is an essential guide for specialist cheese production. The latest edition was released in 2011.

The SCA Technical Committee has produced a number of technical guidelines for cheesemakers which will assist members who are seeking to achieve SCA SALSA approval. These are available in the 'members only' section'.

Patron of the SCA: H. R. H. The Prince of Wales
