Spectrumasd Description

We believe that people with ASD, while requiring different levels of support, have the right to a lifestyle that is happy, dignified and reflects the concept of personalisation based on normalisation. The principal objectives of Spectrum are to promote the support and community care of people with ASD and their immediate families in a manner suitable to their individual needs; and:

To uphold the highest possible standards of service to those individuals receiving support and care; meeting and exceeding the national regulatory requirements

To promote and abide by the European Charter of Rights for persons with autism and to seek to educate service users, families and others in the underlying principles of these rights

To strive for each individual to reach their full potential, promote development and growth, independence and inclusion

To promote the health, development and wellbeing of each individual

To promote a positive image of autism and associated conditions by building community relations

To provide a better quality of life for each service user in a safe, happy and suitable environment

To work independently and with others to promote awareness of the needs of those with ASD, and to promote and contribute to research into improved care and services for those with ASD

To develop the organisation and the individuals within the organisation so that the quality of care and services remains at the highest level, whilst remaining receptive to new ideas and the changing cultural, emotional and intellectual needs of the individual

To extend the range of services in order to deliver and ensure that those requiring support have the opportunity to receive the best available

To remain committed to the staff and the needs of the staff in respect of career and personal development so that self-attainment and service quality are enhanced

To provide each child and adult within Spectrum with an educational or vocational pathway that opens the doors to their future, focusing on their personal strengths and aspirations

This October Amanda enjoyed a concert trip to see her idol Enrique Iglesias in Birmingham. Amanda, her two supporting team members Luke and Stella and of course her two Enrique dolls (Keith and Enrique) were part of a 16,000 strong crowd that attended the concert at the Genting Arena in Birmingham, where they had prime seats near the front of the stage. They arrived in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon and after unloading their belongings in their accommodation, got on their... glad rags for the show and went out for dinner at a restaurant before going to the concert. Amanda loved the show and was very excited to see Enrique perform some of her favourite songs. She coped well with the noise and the crowds and treated herself to a couple of souvenirs from the merchandise stall and was even given a copy of the set list by one of Enrique’s sound engineers. The show didn’t finish until gone 11pm and after a late night and a good sleep, Amanda headed into the centre of Birmingham to do some shopping at the Bull Ring, Birminghams premier shopping destination. Amanda enjoyed lunch at a ‘Bills Restaurant’ and after finishing shopping began the journey back to Cornwall, stopping for a roast dinner at a Toby Carvery and finally arriving home tired and happy after a very enjoyable and successful trip away.
