What an evening! Lovely food, fantastic service and live singing event was cherry on the cake. Can't recommend enough. Next time will bring my other friends too who never have been to spice oven.

User

We went to Spice oven recently with friends and family . We loved it and friends were impressed too. New grill feature and made to order spicy is really nice, now I can choice within buffet.

Tikka kebab, lamb curry was my hubby's favourite .

Chinese momo and Hakka noddles has become fantastic , so subtle and fresh.

Middle eastern is nice addition specially fish.

And of course desserts , mine and kids favourites, nice selection.

Over and above service has really improved

User

Visited the Spice Oven with friends on the opening weekend after the recent refurbishment. We had such a lovely, relaxed family meal. Staff and management were very welcoming on entering. Four children and four adults - everyone could choose their favourite food, which is particularly useful for a picky 4 year old! Very family friendly, fish to watch and toy gifts given when we left. Food was tasty and hot - just what you want from a buffet restaurant. Will definitely be back - thank you for a lovely evening.

User

This place has opened back up with a bang. Before they closed and refurbed, it was going down hill rapidly. So getting their 5* hygiene rating got me back through the door, but the quality of food and fantastic service I experienced will ensure I return again. Fantastic!

User

The middle eastern cuisine, especially the Dijaj Al-faham and Omani Samak Maglie were a hit. The fresh grill salmon and peri-peri chicken aided with the Mouth watering Sweet Lassi provided a perfect recipe for a sumptuous Sunday lunch. The staff was very friendly and the food was very well presented and tasty.

User

The best restaurent of the Uk .best food, best service and beautiful environment inside the hall.

User

Mouthwatering food, refreshing decor and rich ambience defines the all new Spice Oven. I had been there only once some years ago and now - went with some friends last week .. I must say this experience has been awesome right from the food to the service to the cheerful atmosphere. In short, an experience for all senses!

User

Lovely restaurant and very friendly and attentive staff all evening. The food was delicious and some great wine to go with it. I would highly recommend !!!

User

I had my reservations as the last time I was there was disappointing. However I have to say we both had a wonderful time yesterday. The new staff, the lovely atmosphere and the same but tastier food were both welcomed by me and my husband who were celebrating our anniversary. I would definitely recommend coming here especially to those who hadn't had a great experience previously. With their 5* food hygiene rating I would be happy eating here any time. My favourite part has got to be the new clean toilets, they make all the difference. Lovely food, great attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. Many thanks.

User

Great selection of starters, main & desserts - plenty of options to choose to suit everyone in the family. Loved the Amritsari fish and freshly grilled chicken. Service was good. we will be back soon.

User

Awesome food, great buffet, friendly staff and great hospitality. I totally enjoyed my dinner with such a lavish spread of food options. A good place to hangout with friends and family.

User

As soon as you enter the building you can straight away feel the vibe of friendliness and caring. The food smells amazing. So many varieties to choose from.. something for everyone from little ones to adults from fussy eaters to foodies there’s so many choices. The service was great too and decor is brilliant, the fish pond was the main highlight with our kids.

Overall it’s deffo worth the money and food quality is great not like other buffet places I’ve eaten at.

..cant wait to go back!

User

We booked last night for valentines, we got seated quickly at a table that hadn’t been reset properly. We waited a little while for out drinks order to be taken and when it was it took at least 10 mins to come and it was wrong. The free bubbles were appreciated but a little concerned that it was served to my 13 year old who was dining with us. Food was nice, and the fresh grill portions were nice and big. When I asked for some napkins (as we hadn’t had any and peri peri chicken wings required using your hands) we got given 2 paper serviettes, better than nothing but didn’t really do the job. Service was friendly and we appreciate it was a busy night.

A big letdown for us (although we know you can’t control it) was the amount of children running around and rolling on the floor. We understand family dining but having children constantly running around whilst your eating, rolling around and jumping up and down the stairs ruins the atmosphere

User

Obviously this restaurant has changed owners and styles since my last visit.

The buffet style food was OK, it wasn't anything special.

There seemed to be 3 teenage birthday parties when we attended, there was a lot of noise.

Would I go again? Yes, if only to admire the fish swimming in the restaurant.

If I wanted an intimate meal with a significant other, this would not be my choice.

If I wanted to fill up on warm food (buffet style) this would be ideal.

You can visit the buffet as many times as you wish.

I did like the puddings which seemed a little different to most other restaurants.

User

Big drop since last time I came. Always been in large groups and this time was no different. Food was average to good as far as all you can eat buffets go - can't expect more really. We had to wait for our table, which I guess is acceptable on Friday night. Table was clean and tidy, though the chairs seemed very worn and dated... not comfortable at all. Waiter was very uncourtious, drinks took an eternity to reach us, which seemed odd since it was definitely not busy in there. When they did come, my friend had a labelled £1.79 bottle of cider given to her. Profit margins on drinks is where places like this make their money, I get that, but wave it in your face... not impressed!

Waiter was quick to clear away dirty plates from our table but there was little to nothing in the way of communication from him until the bill was requested. We had paid a deposit for our table, which was not deducted from the bill and we were charged £3 for a 1yo baby to sit at the table! We should not have to ask for our deposit to be discounted and using the website to show them "Babies free". Not a great experience and will not be coming back in a hurry.

User

Yesterday I ordered Indian meal from spice oven. We received the take away on time but I was highly disappointed at the quality and taste of the food delivered. To the extent that i could not eat the paratha's ordered and had to finally throw away the entire food. It seems there has been some changes leading from bad to worse. I will not recommend to anyone unless there are changes in the kitchen

User

I heard a lot about this restaurant advertising opening soon under new management so come and try it out our delicious food with family. I was looking forward to have a family meal which was very very special for us especially my son who is traveling abroad in couple of days As he is vegetarian so we thought it would be nice to try out this new place as everyone would be happy as you can get variety of food choices from around the world under one roof. We came to dine in on Tuesday 30th jan,218 found that restaurant was very empty only few people were there so we thought it’s because of weekday, waiter welcomed us and we requested a table for 5 people, we ordered drinks and went to get food as it’s buffet food looks good plenty of choices to choose from so we were actually looking forward to enjoy our evening but as soon we tasted the food it was not to our expectations but we end up eating it as it was nearly 9.30 pm and kids had school next day. Waiters don’t pay attention to you to check if everything is ok unless you call them yourself, my daughter found food very very spicy so she ordered another drink which didn’t come for about 10 mins. Choice on deserts is very limited if I compare this restaurant with Cosmo in Reading on Faire Street then I would say I rather spend money in Cosmo instead of spice oven as Cosmo has much more friendly environment, more variety of tasty food, soft drinks unlimited at reasonable prices. End of the night when we decided to pay they handed us the wrong bill for £155 pounds I was very shocked 😮 then me and my husband looked through it and realised they charged us for 9 people buffet and few alcoholic drinks so I had a word with member of staff she said oh sorry I handed you a wrong bill but that is not very professional is it. I think staff need to be more trained to avoid these issues. I am very very disappointed with the experience we all had. Middle of the night my daughter had a tummy ache and me and my husband faced the same issue the following day in the morning. Very very poor customer service and poor quality food.

User

I don't even want to rate 1*,i feel it doesn't even warrant any stars, but I feel I have to say my piece!

I was extremely disappointed when we visited here yesterday. The staff were very disinterested in their customers and not at all friendly, but they were the least of our worries!

We hadn't realised that their food hygiene level had dropped to 1,if I'm honest it didn't even deserve that! I would say that it needs shutting down! We passed the kitchen on the way to the toilet and it made me almost throw up, as well as the state of the toilets too.

My friend is nearly 9 months pregnant and was very ill last night after eating here. Needless to say, we also contacted the food standards agency about this too!

User

Brought my kids here on 18th Feb I was very disappointed food wasn't good lack of plates dirty empty glasses all over the bar food area was dirty rice totally dry I can honestly say the only that was ok to eat was the ice cream I never moan about anything but I will never waste my time or money again on that place needs a good clean and more staff
