Welcome to Spiceball Leisure Centre - your dedicated health and fitness facility.

User

We have been members for 20 years, and I think in that time we have used every inch of the extensive facilities! Our 3 children have progressed through the fantastic crèche and children’s camps in the holidays, to now using the gym! Going to Spiceball has become a way of life for us all and has introduced exercise into the children’s life in a very positive way! The gym is like no other in Banbury due to the professional and friendly staff and the quality and variety of the classes. The place is like a big welcoming family, and that for us, is more important than vastly reduced prices.

User

Spiceball leisure centre has facilities for a wide range of activities, including racket sports, swimming, weight training, cardio and a big bunch of different fitness classes. The building is modern, well kept and clean. There are plenty of lockers, for which you need a £1 coin, which is returned. The cost of membership is competitive, especially considering the amount of different options available to you if you choose to make use of them. One of the things I like best is that the gym has two or more of almost every type of weight machine and lots of cardio machines. This means I just about never have to wait to use a machine that I want, unlike at other gyms in Banbury that I am aware of. The staff are friendly and I am impressed by the enthusiasm of the gym and class instructors. Car parks nearby can get rather full at times and parking is charged for, though it's free after 6pm or 7pm depending on the location.

User

My son came to your open day today to have a go at the duckling session- although a bit nervous at first he adored it!!!! Well done Spiceball!!!! And special thank you to lisa for taking the class

User

It is the staff, for me the gym team are excellent. They have helped me recover from two years of agony after a back injury. They always push me to my limits while making sure I am safe and doing everything correctly.

User

I think the spiceball is an excellent place to get fit . It's a very Friendly place and the instructors and reception staff are excellent. Would recommend it.

User

I spent most the day down spiceball on sun15th on your open day my kids and their friends had a fab time doing the activities and the staff was fab with them. I always use the gym staff are great advising me after my knee op. I had a go at aqua boot camp I loved it really need to do evening classes it was fab .

User

I mainly use the gym. The staff in the gym are very helpful, especially Sam and Kieran. Who knew you could have fun in the gym!!!!

I've recently started classes. Karen (Body Balance), Rachel & Izzie (Body pump).

I couldn't do the classes without You!!!

Virtual classes are boring, you need an instructor there pushing you on, talking through the routine and making it fun all the time!!! These 3 ladies make the classes 5 star. So much so Now, I'm booking to do more classes!!

User

I just want to say how impressed I am with the leisure centre. It’s facilities are great and staff fantastic. My husband, son and I are here regularly and love it. I think the facilities they offer for young adults is great and the range of classes they do is enough to never get bored of coming. Big shout out to Kieran Richards, Sam Goode, izzie, David and Darren who have made it easy and fun to come into the gym and classes. Fab team

User

I followed my husband to come to work in Banbury for three months, and one day I walked to the spiceball and asked the information about to join the class fit n fifty and I started the class. All the staffs was friendly everywhere was cleaned. Nice to be here. Thank you 😊

User

I attended a Ballroom dancing competition. The facilities were excellent and the staff there were very friendly and helpful.

User

Have been a member of Spiceball for nearly three weeks, having been a member elsewhere a few years ago. Gym staff are very helpful, especially Kieran and Sam, their is loads of equipment and the pool is excellent. Rachael and Izzie's Body Pump class is great fun and they are great instructors. Car parking can be a bit of a struggle sometimes, but there are plenty of car parks within easy walking distance. Centre is very clean and well maintained and excellent value with the free month on the year membership scheme. Top marks so far....!

User

Fab classes. Pool is never as busy as woodgreen. Cafe could be better and serve healthy foods but it doesn't stop me coming back day after day. :)

User

I visited early last Sunday morning and we were really impressed - the staff were friendly and helpful, the changing area was modern and clean. There are 2 pools - the larger was closed (a little annoying as it didn't say this on the website or FB page) as they were training but the smaller trainer pool was perfect for our 3 yo and he loved it! The cafe was nice with lots on offer and very friendly welcoming staff. There was also a very small soft play area. Spiceball team you're doing great - thank you!

User

Every Saturday I go to the roller disco the one at 6.ok till 8 since the roller disco has been back on spice has made big difference in love the crowd there integrally good fun and it a great way to entertain a Saturday night too hope they keep it up and it nevd5 stops

Cause it did at one didn't some reason but now I'm thrilled That the roller disco is back on every Saturday it is a shame that nourish to do on Sundays cause it seems bit flat compard to Saturday thanks everyone xxx

User

Since contract changed hands last year it's really gone downhill, staff are still superb but the gym maintenance is an after thought. Sanitary tissues dispencers often empty, equipment left broken for weeks (not exaggerating either!)

a bike with a broken button took 6 weeks to repair.

seats with rips left to rot and smell due to sweat saturation.

Clips, handles will go unfixed for months until enough brake they then bulk buy and fix them all.

Showers often smell of stale pipes, while clean they do stench.

Thankfully overall the equipment is plentiful and of a decent standard it's just that profits first approach now.

With rumours of a 24hr gym going up nearby hopefully they will get sort it out before to many leave.

User

It is a great facility. But I called before choosing to go to Banbury swimming from Buckingham to check the pool temperature was okay for babies. After the receptionist checked with someone she said ' our trainer pool is 30-31° so okay for babies. Upon arriving my husband took my baby in, my 9 month old baby instantly turned blue and started crying. Even my 2 year old found it cold. We didn't stay had to get out. Failed attempt number 2 at taking my boys swimming in as many days. We did get refunded though it was extremely stressful and not helping my boys get adjusted to enjoy going swimming. Someone did tell me the pool is warmer in the morning so the heating is obviously turned off at some point. Not going to use these facilities again. Too stressful. If you say your pool is 30-31° then it should be just that!

User

The facilities for disabled people are terrible and lacking very much. The after thought room / firtst aid room that is a long distance from the changing rooms is full of crap so to use a hoist safely as well as trying to move a wheel chair you can't without knocking in to something. No proper changing facilities or facilities for disabled people to be able to use the toilet unless you are mobile or can stand and weight bear yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself. Have no idea why people with disabilities especially people in wheel chairs get such a rubbish deal and never have any thought. Also when my client was being hoisted in to the pool instead of the staff waiting for me to move out the way she put the hoist down on my head just bloody terrible experience

User

Terrible experience - dirty, filthy place. Used plasters in main pool (!!) smelly bathrooms, customer service on very poor level - I made an appointment for membership at 4:30 and consultant was running late 50 minutes (then I didnt even hear sorry!) rude lifeguard who laughed at my face when I said that I want to speak with manager. To be honest thats The worst place to relax - you are leaving nervous and stressed! Highly NOT recommended.

User

Awful experience at my first time visiting Spiceball. Wanted to take a picture of my newborn’s first swim (and could check it is of no one else). There are notices up advising you need to gain permission from the management but when ask they are unavailable and no one in management available all day. When asked for a refund of costs for parking etc staff seemed unhelpful. Can honestly say won’t be visiting spiceball again.
