As promised, the existing and proposed floor plans for the home we shared the progress report on Tuesday. {< • >} Extending to the rear, creates new and improved spaces for the house but also closes off the staircase from any natural light. Our solution to this was to introduce new roof windows and a vaulted ceiling above the staircase making a bright triple height space. I closed off the original lounge to create a new dining room – a tranquil, grown-up space. Part of the kitchen became a downstairs loo and much-needed utility room.
