Charles Willis-Owen is an Oxford trained orthopaedic surgeon, dual qualified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He is passionate about sport, and has raced for Great Britain in cycling, run marathon at international elite level and rowed at Oxford University. He went to Australia’s biggest sports hospital to learn cutting edge techniques and has developed these further since his return. Charles worked privately in London for 5 years at London Bridge Hospital before moving to Dorset.

Charles has over 40 publications and has lectured internationally on various sports and orthopaedic topics. Mr Willis-Owen has previously provided medical cover for a diverse range of sports from Twickenham Rugby to Silverstone F1 race circuit, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Most people come to see him for knee injuries, hip pain or knee pain. He strives to avoid surgery if at all possible, using techniques such as shockwave therapy, injections – including stem cells, and a holistic biomechanical assessment. When surgery is required he carries out significant numbers of arthroscopies (keyhole surgery), ACL reconstruction (using the latest single tendon techniques) and high performance knee and hip replacements.

Mr Willis-Owen has clinics at Bournemouth Nuffield Health on Wednesday evening and Poole BMI Harbour Hospital on Monday Evening and Friday Morning.
