We got married at this venue on the 1st May 2016 and I would say the chapel, reception and the staff were so great. They were very attentive and polite. They made sure all our needs were met and went above and beyond to make sure our day was beautiful and stress free.

To top it off one member of staff in particular stood out. His name was Scott. Even on his day off which was a bank holiday, he came to the venue to allow us to pack our things as we needed to heard back to London. That to me is going above and beyond of customer service. So I would like to take this opportunity to really thanks him for that and wish him and the rest of the staff all the best.

I would 100% recommend this venue to hold your great day. God bless.

We got married at St Augustines on 30.07.17 and could not be happier. Everything from start to finish was just amazing. The venue itself is magical and has so many beautiful rooms. The customers service was excellent and the staff were just so friendly and helpfully. The food was more than delicious and the portion sizes were huge. We have had so many guests give brilliant reviews and say that it was the best wedding that they have been too and for this, we thank you. I would like to give a special mention to our wedding coordinator Kerry Casely. Kerry was the best coordinator you could ever ask for. She listened to us and ensured that nothing was missed. She always had fast and helpful responses to our emails and questions. She made me feel so relaxed on the actual day and kept making sure that everyone was okay including all of our guests. The whole wedding went perfect without even a slight glitch and we are over the moon. I can't recommend this venue and Kerry enough! We are so happy and plan to hold future events at this venue. Love Mr & Mrs Thompson x

We cannot thank Carole, Kerry and Kieron enough for making our wedding day so amazing! The day ran so smoothly and hassle free allowing us to make a lifetime of memories. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it too - also huge thank you to Belinda who took over in the evening - nothing was too much trouble. We cannot thank you enough - what a fantastic team you are.

Much love Amanda & Paul Davies xx

We attended the Christmas party night on Friday 22nd December, this is the third year we have been to one of the party nights and the food was the best yet, all hot and the beef and roast potatoes were fab

Thank you everyone at St. Augustines. Our twilight wedding was better than we could have imagined. Kerry you were fantastic going over and above. All the guests said how amazing the venue was. Mr and Mrs Horton

Rob and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. You all were amazing making our day so special. Kerry thank you did an absolute stirling job. Especially the cheeky shots as we became husband and wife. Much love to you all and thank you once again xxxx

User

My husband and I had our wedding at St Augustine's in October and it was EPIC! We really couldn't have wished for anything better! The venue is beautiful and was able to perfectly accommodate the wedding we wanted, and the staff were unbelievably accommodating - we wanted for absolutely nothing. They day went without a hitch and our guests were extremely impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and there was a real feeling that the whole team had invested in our celebration because they wanted it to go well, not because we were paying them. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

User

Kerry was AMAZING and ensured our wedding day was beyond perfect. We cannot thank Kerry and her team enough, everything was fabulous and went without a hitch. Kerry thought of everything and added little touches that we didn't expect. Thankyou for giving us the day of our dreams xxxxx

Just recently had my wedding here. My coordinator Kieran was superb, and very communicative and extremely helpful with everything. The venue was stunning, and all the staff there were friendly, attentive, and just overall wonderful. The food was absolutely magnificent (my mum is still raving about the seafood mirror, specifically how amazing the crab was). Our day couldn't have gone any better, and we are thrilled to have held our wedding at St Augustine's!!

I'm getting married here in August and can't wait . It's so lovely and the staff are well mannered and always on hand when u need them

User

I got married here on 29.05.17 and the entire day from start to finish was amazing. The staff were just fabulous, working tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the wedding was seamless. Kerry Casely my wedding co-ordinator was just incredible. She helped plan my perfect day from the beginning and made sure everything was exactly as I wanted it, plus more! Highly recommend this venue, the staff and the food. Thank you St Augustines. Mr and Mrs Dube

Had my Christmas work do here last weekend. Absolutely loved it!!! Was kindly greeted at the door and shown to my seat by a staff member. The setting was warm and cosy, also the decor was lovely that really set the ambiance for Christmas. The food was outstanding, am quite the fussy eater but the meat was succulent, the vegetables and gravy was full of flavour and the toast potato’s plus Yorkshire puddings were crispy. We was called up by each table for are food which I found better, due to the fact you could ask for more or curtain bits of food e.g a more crisp potato. This was all served by friendly and welcoming staff. At the end of the night the DJ played up to date music followed with a bit of 90’s cheese, he was very open to requests if you wanted your fave Christmas tune played. Over all I had a great time with good company at an amazing venue.

User

Had a lovely meal for my works Christmas party. Food was great, music and atmosphere were spot on. Great price too. Friendly staff. Will be booking again for next year

User

Absolutely fantastic venue

Could not fault the staff and everyone concerned in making my daughters wedding day magical x

User

Music and atmosphere was fab, had a lovely evening with my friends, however unfortunately for me personally the food wasn’t very nice. Seemed like mass produced cheap food, which is a shame because I loved everything else about the evening.

We had our works Christmas party last Friday evening, we were excited and felt sure of a good night ,after all this was St Augustine's Abbey . On arrival it took us a good ten minutes to get a drink because the poor girl behind the bar was completely overwhelmed and alone. At seven o,clock were called into the dining hall , it looked lovely and festive but that was as good as it got . We were crammed onto a table with no room to even pull your chair out to sit down. The tables took turns to attend the carvery and when our table was called it was gone eight o' clock , boy were we hungry , we got our dinners which were dished up by the most miserable looking staff and returned to our table, well the potatoes were cold and like eating shoe leather, the gravy was like tepid water, the sprouts were cold, hard and not cooked and as for the parsnips . The whole meal was s disaster and not worth a fiver never mind thirty pounds. Our concerns were given to a lady who seemed to be in charge and was told that no-one else had complained and we could have had our meals put in the microwave ,charming!!!

Please don't say that we should have brought this to the attention of the manager, we did and so far have had no response. Worst meal ever , Never again, completely spoilt our night and we were angry and very disappointed . Seems that they cram as many people in as they can, feed them really inedible food ,make a huge profit and don't give a toss , Never ever again.

User

Very disappointed. Went here for Christmas Party on 2nd December. Was really looking forward to it after hearing very good things however I now wish I hadn't wasted £30! Hall was made to look lovely and staff were very welcoming but then came the food and very nasty tasting wine! Took ages to finally get our food (fair enough we were the 2nd to last table to go up) but when we had got there they had even run out of yorkshire puddings and didn't even seem to care when I mentioned it. Roast potatoes were horrible and something about the beef was very iffy with a bad smell about it so didn't eat it in the end. This easily ruined the evening and our whole table left shortly after the meal due to this. Will not be attending this venue in future for a Christmas Party and will highly advise people to choose an alternative venue aswell.

My email of complaint

I am writing to you, in regards to the Christmas Party Saturday 9th, that myself and team attended. I have spent the weekend thinking about whether or not to contact you, however I feel it is necessary to explain how disappointed I was with the event and am intrigued to find out if you have had any further negative feedback.

On the lead up to the event, I could not have faulted your customer service, and the room did look Christmassy.

However, to pay £150.00 (£30.00 per head) for what I would class as a poor attempt at a school dinner, was horrendous. My daughters primary school does better food than that.

The roast potatoes were unroasted and almost uncooked

The Yorkshire were wet and soaky

The gravy was like dish water

Two option veg, in particular sprouts being one of them gave no variety

And to top it off, you had long queues of people surrounding the tables whilst they waited to collect their food

And furthermore, the dessert was rushed out to us, and well the lemon tart was like toilet cleaner. My whole table had chose this dessert, all of which had to scrape off the topping and just eat the pastry.

To add to this, you could not hear the music over the sound of everyone talking.

We ordered two rounds of drinks, the first about £40.00 from the entrance bar, of which was fine.

The second from the back bar at abut £28.00, at which we were given to medium glasses of rose wine, by the time the girls got back to the table, tasted unusual and acidic, they were to the bar and explained and asked for a new glass at which the barman gave them white wine, which was not what they wanted however felt to embarrassed to complain again and proceeded back to the table, and chose not to drink the drink.

Then when we asked a member of staff, if the tables were going to be moved for the dance floor she explained that the small corner by the Christmas tree was the dance floor, and that was the volume of the music for the night.

And, a final petty comment on my behalf, but the table decorations, party poppers didn't pop, blower whitstly things didn't blow, and a couple of balloons to throw around the room.

Now, some of these things may sound minor, but in the grand scheme of things, I paid over £200.00 for the meal and two rounds of drinks and by 9.00pm we chose to leave the venue as we were so disappointed.

So I would appreciated some feedback and some form of compensation as to be truthful, I was embarrassed in front of my employees, to think that we were paying for a grand night and ended up with less than a primary school disco.

Last night's Christmas dinner was a horrible experience. The tables in long rows, were crammed together. There was NO HEATING. People were standing in a queue to get their dinners (like school dinners) wearing overcoats. The food, served by the same sullen waiters and waitresses was doled out in minute quantities, and DON'T ASK FOR MORE!!! They ran out of red wine - after queuing for some time at the bar, I was told that all of the red wine had been sent to another (unspecified) bar the other end of the building. no offer to get me one - just white or rose wine or leave it. No-one seemed to car when they ran out of desserts on out table, and we were told we had to have what was left over despite it not being our choice. No tea or coffee. What a disaster - profit above service, quality and everything else.
