St Barnabas House Description

St Barnabas House is a local charity which provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses, both within the hospice and in the comfort of patients’ homes across West Sussex.

Our aim is to ensure that the comfort and dignity of our patients is at the heart of everything we do. Over the last 40 years, the hospice has cared for thousands of patients and their families in the areas of Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield.

Patients and their families are never charged for their care. It costs over £6 million each year to run the hospice and only a small part of these costs are state funded. This means that the majority of the money has to be raised through voluntary donations from local communities within the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas.

We are so grateful to our local community for their ongoing support and generosity.

“As soon as you walk through the door at St Barnabas, you feel a weight taken off your shoulders. You can feel them taking the pressure and stress away.”
Last year, Graham was cared for at St Barnabas House. This year, his wife Gill and daughter Melinda have shared their experience of the care he and the family received in his last few days at the hospice.

It’s not every day you see a Stormtrooper shopping in our Wick shop!
He was there last Saturday for the May 4th Star Wars Day and the shop were selling Star Wars related toys, memorabilia and books.
The staff and volunteers would like to thank the local community for their support and making it such a successful day to raise money for St Barnabas House.

It’s Photo Friday time! 📸 Meet Sharon who has been a Staff Nurse here at St Barnabas House for four and a half years. Sharon said: “the best part of my day is doing the drug rounds in the summer, when patients are out in the gardens enjoying the sunshine in their beds”.
