The parish was established in 1926 and the first church was opened in 1927 on this side and dedicated to St. Edmund of Canterbury.
It was replaced in 1958 by the present building which was consecrated in 1976 by Rt. Rev. Patrick J. Casey, The Fifth Bishop of Brentwood.
Fr. John Harvey is responsible for the pastoral care of the parishes of St. Edmund of Canterbury
