St Edmundsbury Cathedral
Reviews
Several visits over the years. This visit for Evening Prayer, a small fellowship.
Magnificent building, in the throws of maintenance once again, scaffolding abounds.
But all will be made good and beautiful.
It's an absolutely beautiful abbey, & so peaceful. If I was ever in the area again I would definitely go back.
A stunning architectural masterpiece , highly recommended, even for us atheists .... you God followers get all the good buildings !
Wonderful historic sight. Stop in and help them build the cathedral in Lego.
Bury St. Edmunds is a modest sized town which is why finding such a spectacular cathedral here is both a surprise and a delight. It is well maintained and has quite a majestic feel to it. Check out grand ceilings and the mighty pipe organ. The grounds are also stunning.
We were greeted warmly when we came in at the end of the day, 4:30. Were invited to walk all around and see everything and take a free map. The lego model is impressive but in its early stages. They need donations to continue. The ceilings are beautifully painted and it should be noted that the windows are worth seeing before sun down, so 3:00. The abbey remains were closed before we could see them but took pictures in front of the impressive gate. The gift shop was lovely and had a Christmas section.
Stunning cathedral. Very open and welcoming, lots to see and enjoy
