Our fundraisers do amazing things.
Michael chose to fundraise for St George’s Hospital after he finished his cancer treatment to thank all the hospital staff and doctors for their support. He raised an enormous £47,000 to fund a Venous Access Machine, which will allow easier and more frequent access to the veins without the need for deep needle sticks, increasing comfort and helping to reduce anxiety.

We’d like to say a huge thank you and well done to our RideLondon cyclists who braved the cold, wind, rain, and diversions along the route in order to reach the finish line on Sunday!
Between them they have raised over £20,200 so far for St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals. Check out some of the photos taken from our cheer point on the day.

Today we have been enjoying the sunshine, accompanied by beautiful music from the Alfred & Salamanda Sax Quartet.
They are regular supporters of the charity, and today have raised over £100, thank you so much to everyone for your donations.

This Friday 3 August, patients from The Wolfson at Queen Mary’s Hospital will attempt to cycle 200 miles using Motomed (static bikes) to raise money for the Wolfson Social Activity Fund.
The Wolfson does incredible work in helping patients who have suffered a brain injury or stroke on their road to recovery. They assist patients to walk, communicate and access the community again.
When not doing therapy, patients rely on the support of activity co-ordinators who arrange trip...s out, group activity sessions, board games, evening events and arts and crafts. All of these activities are essential to patient’s overall recovery and help them and their families remain in a positive frame of mind. Without donations to the activity fund, this support would not be possible.
To sponsor the patients please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ce ri-clare. Alternatively, if you are in Queen Mary’s on Friday please come and say hello!

71-year-old Nicholas Drewe is one of our 23 cyclists taking part in RideLondon this weekend.
Cycling the 100 miles will be an incredible feat, especially considering it has only been 14 months since he was treated for a stroke here at St George’s.

This Sunday 22 July, members of ‘Team Andy’ will be taking part in the Kingston Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge to raise money for McKissock Ward.
They have been inspired to fundraise as their friend Andy (pictured right with best friend Sean) has been treated on the Ward for a rare form of cancer.
To date they have raised over £6,000 for the ward, and we are so grateful for their support.

St George’s Hospital Charity last night launched a fundraising drive for £500,000 to help sick children and their families at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.
St George’s is a specialist centre for fetal, maternity and child services. Together with paediatric A&E, the teams based in Tooting see around 30,000 outpatients and 10,000 admissions as well as 5,000 births every year – with very sick patients referred from around the UK to access St George’s expertise.
“We’re reall...y proud of what we do, but we know there are things we could do better. So what we’d really like to appeal for is a Family Hub. To provide specialist assistance for incredibly complex pregnancies but also for our first time mums and the local community – a space to deliver a truly amazing experience and care.” Karin Leslie, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology
To donate to our Children’s Appeal text SGHC03 followed by £3 to 70070.

Charity fundraisers Jay and Sina Patel are in the news today discussing the importance of organ donation, particularly in people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
Their son Aari died in 2016 when he was three, following an accident at home. Jay and Sina asked at the hospital whether their son could be an organ donor, and his organs saved the lives of two children – a boy and a girl – in dire need of a transplant.

For over 200 years our #nurses have been the lifeblood of St George’s Hospital.
As we celebrate #NHS70 this week we acknowledge the massive contribution that nurses made to the development of St George's Hospital.
'Nurses' Voices' is a project that sought to explore the memories, experiences and perspectives of nurses and nursing care by recording interviews with retired and current practitioners. It gives a fascinating insight into the development of nursing during the 20th ...century at St George's Hospital.

What an amazing charity, raising funds for St George's Hospital's additional equipment and also for art, to create a healthier and happier environment for patients, their families and friends. Do you know, that there even is a gallery in the Ingredients Restaurant, 1 st floor Lanesborough Wing, with different artwork on display every 4 weeks. You can also buy art there. 25% of the sales price will be donated to the charity. What a great concept! I only know, because I have been invited to show my photography of water. The exhibition is now on until 18. Februar 2018, daily 7.30 am - 7.30 pm. If you love art, like some time to reflect, a moment of mindfulness or simply a little distraction. Enjoy! All welcome! Best wishes Angelika Spranger

This hospital saved my life!!! I owe everything to the amazing staff; right from the paramedics, A&E, Nye Bevan, ICU, HDU and Vernon ward - the staff were incredible and I received the BEST care. I am under the bariatric team and have to praise them all for the support I have had and continue to have; Cathy Edge, Scott Lonnee and Mr Marcus Reddy. Exceptional - thank you!

User

Had a very long wait, you can see why the staff get frustrated as some people bring the whole family with them, so no seats people standing, but once we actually got to see a Dr,they didn't leave a stone unturned whilst they tried to find out what was going on, we saw quite a few Dr's but finally got the correct consultant, but didn't get the scan needed to confirm what they thought the problem was, which is the only thing I would say isn't great as my daughters face was 3,times as big and no better today, I think they should of kept her in like they planned to as she is in so much pain & and having difficulty to swollen great as you are worrying all the time until we get the call for the scan. But a big thank you to all the staff who tried to make her comfy, just hope we don't wait long for scan as she certainly doesn't look or feel any better today!!

User
