St George'S Preparatory School, Boston, Lincs Description

Boston’s only independent Preparatory School is a small, family-run establishment, taking children from 3 to 11 years. The traditional values of courtesy, consideration and respect are the basic foundations on which the school is built.

The school motto is: believe, achieve, succeed!

“At St George’s, we believe that every child should experience success every day – we cherish and nurture each child and are as proud of their achievements as they are! We aim to produce confident, happy and hardworking children with a strong sense of right and wrong, ” says Sarah who is a qualified primary school teacher with over 25 years experience across the primary age range.

Class sizes are enviably small – fifteen children or less in each year group. This means that all children receive individual attention and that all teachers will know their children (and their families! ) exceptionally well.

Teaching staff work hard to make each day exciting, stimulating, challenging and fulfilling so that the children relish their school days and are keen to participate in the vast array of opportunities on offer. “We do not believe in pushing our children to grow up quickly – this happens all too soon! We do however have high expectations when it comes to work and behaviour! ”

The curriculum is stimulating, vibrant and active, requiring children to participate in their learning – no empty vessels to be filled here! St George’s teachers bring lessons to life – so, don’t be surprised if you see a class re-enacting the Viking invasion in the woodland – we call this ‘active learning. ’ At St George’s, tried and trusted traditional methods of teaching sit alongside the latest developments in IT.

“We know that some children have talents which lie in other areas – sports, music, the arts, etc – these children are encouraged to develop their talents and shine in their particular sphere. ”

We asked Mark and Sarah, “What makes St George’s so special?”
