About St. Hugh'S Cinema 'Appreciation' Society

In 1895 the brothers Lumiere patented the Cinematograph; “cinema” developed into the most significant artform of the twentieth century.

In 2009, pioneering students at St Hugh's College, Oxford, undertook a gargantuan mission; they scoured the globe to unearth some of the greatest criminally underappreciated cinematic efforts of the modern age. With the aid of a combination of the latest in breathtaking full colour “televisual” entertainment systems and cutting edge "digital versatile disc technology", misunderstood artistic masterpieces such as Carnosaur, Hercules in New York, Starship Troopers I, II and III, and Witchcraft will be sensationally brought back to life. Has ever there been a more important resurrection? This reporter thinks not.

Sit in comfortable awe; marvel at acting masterclasses from legends such as DAVID HASSELHOFF and 30 FOOT ROBOT; feast on culinary delights ranging from "pop" to "corn"!

Gather, and be part of the mission to restore these hidden gems to their rightful places in cinematic history.

Every Friday at 8pm in the JCR!
