Speen School children have been learning about the wise man and the foolish and left us these building blocks in church so we could see what they have been doing. Well done and thank you, Speen School.

The choir executed a great surprise at the end of this mornings service with a rendition of happy birthday for Rev Tony’s 70th birthday this coming Wednesday. This was followed by prosecco and a wonderful cake (thanks to simplyalpa.co.uk). Happy birthday Tony!

Happy Mother’s Day from St John’s Church. We had such a joyful service this morning - a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace by children from St John’s School, reflections on why we give flowers from Rev Tony, pretty posy’s for all the ladies and mouth watering cakes.

A perfect crib service at St John's this Christmas Eve where we were treated to songs and prayers from pupils of St John's school. There was a vast array of Christmas jumpers (one of them musical) and a host of nativity characters (including the all important nativity reindeer!). The posada was brought to the altar by the children following its journey around 8 homes in Lacey Green this advent, and the crib is all ready for the addition of baby Jesus as midnight mass (11:15pm).

Are you ready for Christmas? We are at St John's but need your help. Come along to St John's Church this afternoon at 3:30pm for our lovely traditional crib service and help us prepare the crib ready for the big day tomorrow. Children (and adults) are welcome to come in nativity fancy dress if they wish - it all adds to the fun and sense of anticipation.

St John's school children took part in a beautiful service of remembrance in church this morning. The singing was, as usual, outstanding; poems and prayers were read from representatives of the year groups and poppy crosses were laid by year 6 pupils. The two minute silence was perfectly observed demonstrating that value of respect that has been a focus for the first half of the autumn term, and how fitting that the value for the second half of the term is peace.
There will be a service of remembrance at 10am this Sunday when we look forward to many of the St John's children joining us again. Everyone is most welcome - do come and join us.
