St Joseph'S College

About St Joseph'S College

Welcome to St Joseph's College, the independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18 in Ipswich.

St Joseph'S College Description

St Joseph’s College feels different. We are very proud of the special ethos at St Joseph’s, an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, which combines strong Christian values with a unique approach to supporting and nurturing children within a family environment.

We challenge all of our students to ‘be their best’ in every aspect of College life and set high standards for everyone in our community. Parents, pupils and staff work together to ensure that we produce confident pupils without arrogance, team players who will stand up for what is right and compassionate, caring members of society.

You are warmly invited to visit us at our beautiful 60 acre campus in Ipswich to discover for yourself what makes St Joseph’s feel so different.

A number of our students and German exchange visitors enjoyed visiting Shotley Church this morning, looking at some of the earliest graves from the First World War, both British and German . #remembrance #ArmisticeDay #lestweforget18

Good luck to our Deputy Head Girl Lia Taylor (U6): Royal Correspondent interview with Sky TV 5.05pm on Sunday - then a place at Westminster Abbey courtesy of her fabulous poem, Carpe Diem.

Tune in to Anglia News tonight from 6.00pm to see St Joseph's College feature along with our visitors from Gymnasium Theodorianum. #Armistice100

Benedictus from Karl Jenkins' 'The Armed man - A Mass for Peace' performed by musicians and singers of Gymnasium Theodorianum and St Joseph's College.

Moving, solemn, hopeful. St Joseph's community and students from Gymnasium Theodorianum marked the sacrifices of the First World War.

User

Everyone lucky enough to be attending Sunday's Armistice Concert is in for a moving musical treat.

User

Our Paderborn musician guests are preparing for Sunday's concert with our choir and they sound great!

A fantastic poem by George Klingsick-Greig (Y6) has won The Society of Heads Poetry Competition for Years 5 and 6. General Secretary, Mr Clive Rickart wrote, ‘The standard of work was incredibly high and George is to be congratulated on his significant achievement.
George’s poem, written when he was in Year 5, is called 'Our Planet' and is an upbeat assessment of how we can all play our part in minimising environmental damage.

Under 13s footballer Erika Lempek (Y8) played up for the Suffolk Girls Under 14 Development Squad in an away fixture against North Suffolk Academy. Her team came away with a 6-2 victory, with Erika having scored four goals and named Player of the Match. Excellent!

Very pleased to say that we were lucky enough to send both our sons here between 2001-2012. They both achieved an incredible education, enthusiastic teaching staff, fabulous results, achieving Russell Group Uni status along with fabulous careers now - the best decision ever. It was not only a school but became their second home, wonderful pastoral care along with the feeling of belonging to an extended family. Teaches children not only academically well but s much more including nurturing them to become well rounded adults. We all loved it.

User

They've created a wonderful environment for everyone to fulfill their full potential.

St Joes will always be my home. I am a second generation Old Birkfeldian attended from 1996-2009 and owe everything to my time at this school. I met the love of my life here and am the person I am today because the support I received from the amazing teachers.

User

Loved my time here I went all the way through from nursery, oak hill, high school and on to sixth form and feel very privileged to have been apart of this beautiful school.

User

It was a hard decision to send all three of my children here, as an ex-Ipswich School student, but the correct decision. All are very happy and the school has an excellent balance. I could'nt be happier. Many thanks to the college.

User

I had the best time here!! So much opportunity for the children at this school!! The best decision we’ve made for our son!!

User

I didn't have the easiest time settling in to private school education but I could not hold fonder memories of how this place turned me from boy to man in my thinking and everything that I do! As a young successful business owner, I cant imagine how I would have got to this point in my life without my education and more importantly, the community of St. Joseph's.

User

Having not come from a public school background it has been a hard decision to send my children to one, but they are getting a fantastic education at St Joseph's and becoming very well rounded young people BEST decision I ever made! Can't rate the school highly enough

User

Had my first St Joseph's trip today to the Clothes Show in Birmingham. Just wanted to say what a lovely group of children. Pleasure to be with so polite, kind and thoughtful to their friends. Really enjoyed the trip.....

User

Had an amazing time there in the early 80's.. would have wished for my daughter to attend as it's coed, but unfortunately unattainable in the current financial climate.. it's not purely about examination results... not so academic children thrive & leave with amazing social skills & confidence that will remain for the rest if their lives. Visit a state school then St Joseph's ... amazing facilities, enthusiastic teachers, pastoral care, extra curriculum activities ( your kids couldn't possibily attend half as there is so much to choose from).... it's a place your kids will nag you to be on time to get to rather than fain sickness.. Many schools in the private sector are petencious..not this one. Pupils attend from all social demographics but are treated and more importantly, accepted as equals. So if you have the financial ability to consider your children/child attending or they have an academic/ sporting/ drama / singing gift there are opportunities available for scholarships & bursaries. In my daughters case I thought of crowd funding (sic). Seriously it would be a decision no parent would ever regret.

A good school

Good memories

User

I am delighted to go back with my son and his roommates after 8 years when I dropped him at the boarding house. although he has left there since 2015 but when he went back there yesterday to say goodbye to their teachers (he has to go back to Hong Kong after so many years), we r still warmly welcome by all of them, just like a big family especially their boarding house mother!. I feel some kind of jealous seeing them hugging but my tears are rolling in my eyes!. I love the school a lot!

User

Worst time in my life . Mr Regan was a bully and a criminal. Conditions in boarding school were worse than a prison . Avoid or cry
