St Luke'S Cheshire Hospice

About St Luke'S Cheshire Hospice

We’re a small Hospice with a big heart where people can find a safe refuge during a difficult journey.

St Luke'S Cheshire Hospice Description

Our support covers a wide range of specialist palliative nursing care, and extends not only to patients but their families and friends too. For every £1 you donate to St Luke's, 85p goes to patient care and the remaining 15p helps us to raise another pound. Your fundraising and donations mean that we can care for more local people.

Bubble Rush 2019 sponsored by Cliff Dickenson and Son
Don't miss out on the Bubbliest event in town!
Wave 1 (11am) will close at midnight TONIGHT so if you were deliberating whether to join your friends and family in this wave, do it now!
... There is still space in Wave 2 (midday) but the places won't last forever.
There really is "no place like foam"

Thank you to the family of friends of Keith Taylor who recently donated £872 in his memory. Keith was a well known Middlewich, Cheshire business man and National Hunt Jockey and is greatly missed. Thank you for thinking of us at this very sad time. #Middlewich #racing

Introducing 'Team Strictly 2019' Sponsored by Northwich Glass. Our fabulous dancing fundraisers have now completed 5 weeks of lessons. Having been put through their paces by the fantastic Callam from Precision Dance Academy supported by Liv and Rose they have now been allocated their finale dance. Next week they will meet their 'professional partners'. As if it isn't a challenge enough to learn to dance in front of an audience of 250 people they have committed to raise in excess of £500 each. We think they are amazing and if you would like to watch them in the final then pop over to www.thegrangetheatre.com and look for Strictly Learn to Dance tickets. Do you recognise anybody?

It was lovely to welcome Neil Smith and Bryan Skellon to the Hospice this week. Neil and Bryan have written a book about Crewe Locomotive Works and Bryan's 50 years in their workshops. All the proceeds from this book are going to the Hospice and the gentlemen are hoping that it will raise over £2.5K. If you would like more information on the book and how to obtain it click on https://www.slhospice.co.uk/…/local-bio grapher-gives-insig…/ Thank you gentlemen for your amazing support. #Crewe #railways #creweworks

Big thanks to the team at 1825 Financial Planning in Crewe, for filling over 50 of our large donation bags with unwanted clothes, accessories and bric-a-brac!
We are always in need of more donations, and organising 'one off' pick-ups from local businesses is a really efficient way of making sure our charity shops are well stocked.
Could you get together with your workmates and help us out? We have hundreds of empty bags that need filling - simply drop us a line and we'll be in touch!

On nice sunny days like today, it's good to catch up with local businesses that go the extra mile for St Luke's.
The team at Aztec Aerosols Ltd in Crewe recently staged a Bake Sale and raised over £80 for patient care! 💙

A nurse from Nantwich has held a ‘Debbie’s Not Dead’ party to mark the end of her treatment for breast cancer, raising more than £2,000 for our Hospice.
41-year-old Deborah Brown was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last Easter. She underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy for the rare type of cancer.
Debbie also had genetic testing and discovered in December that she has the BRCA 1 gene fault, which was highlighted globally by Angelina Jolie, and which significant...ly increases the risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Like the Hollywood actress, Debbie also made the difficult decision to have a preventative mastectomy and surgery to remove her ovaries.
Debbie attended St Luke’s Day Hospice services for eight weeks as part of her recovery process and received support and advice from the nurses, as well as complementary therapies including Reflexology. She found Day Hospice a relaxing and welcoming environment: “I wasn’t going to come but I needed something to stop me stressing out, and I was pleasantly surprised. The Day Hospice has a nice big living room, a big garden and tea and coffee on tap so it was very relaxing. I also had a great rapport with the team.
"It really helped me to cope with the stress of treatment. That’s why I wanted to raise money for St Luke’s because I had all that treatment for free and I wanted to give something back.”
We think Debbie is a true inspiration and we can't thank her enough for her fundraising for St Luke's. To read more about Debbie's story please visit http://bit.ly/2NiLeCS

Harry Woodward is a great supporter of our Hospice. He's heavily involved in the local Football Match that takes place on New Year's Day between The Nags Head and The Dysart Arms, both in Bunbury.
The Harry Woodward Cup is presented to the winners each year and Harry gets to choose which Charity he would like to support which is great news for us as over the last three years, its been our Hospice.
Thank you to all the players, the Pub Landlords and huge thanks to Harry for supporting us each year.

User

A big THANK YOU to Asda who recently presented us with a cheque for £500 from their token scheme. They also presented some lovely raffle prizes too. We are also very grateful to the kind folk of Crewe who voted for us in store. Thank you Crewe #Crewe #Nantwich

This week is National Student Volunteering Week, a wonderful opportunity for many of us to have a chat with young people about the benefits of volunteering.
Volunteering offers a variety of benefits, including enhanced employability through the development of new skills and experience, improvements to wellbeing, and increased confidence. Plus with a competitive job market and university application process, volunteering is a great way to stand out from the crowd!
St Luke’s ha...s nine charity shops across Cheshire which means we can offer volunteering roles in your local town.
So if you know someone aged 16 or over who could regularly give a few hours a week, please ask them to get in touch and we’ll help them take a step towards improving their future.

The care my mum has and is receiving is above and beyond anything I could have ever wished for. I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness, understanding and care that they all provide 24/7. Just observing and hearing how staff speak to different patients is just the loveliest thing, as I have witnessed nothing but kindness and understanding, and allowing the time to listen.

St. Luke's has given me such relief knowing my mum is in a safe environment during this difficult time.

Such a great place looked after Not just my brother at end of life but the rest of the family thst were with him too. Even when my emotions were running high and I couldn't cope along with my brother in law they were there for me explaining everything and I managed to back to him and say my farewells. They go above and beyond the call of duty.

Amazing place to work and be part of a team who care so much for their staff and more importantly their patients. This year I was a patient after my mastectomy and reconstruction. I've seen both sides now to the hospice and it truly has a big heart. Thank you for everything.

User

All the staff at st Lukes looked after my mum for 6 weeks as though she was family. You couldn't ask for a better place or care for someone that you love. When I couldn't be there with mum I knew she was being well looked after and it was a weight off my mind. Not only did the nurses look after my mum they looked after me too and made sure I was ok. I can't praise st Lukes enough. Forever in their debt. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. X

User

A truly amazing oasis of peace, tranquillity and calmness with the most caring and compassionate of staff who really care. As a visitor you are made to feel wanted, cared for and at home, just as those who are staying there are and for them, nothing is too much trouble.
