Research by the HMRC published last year estimated that charities in the UK were losing out on ÂŁ600m of extra funding every year due to a lack of awareness about how the scheme works.
Our CEO, Eileen Marshall has a few words to say about this: “Gift Aid is a fantastic initiative for charities as it brings in additional donations without costing our supporters an extra penny. It’s simple to claim Gift Aid; short forms are available in our shops, on our website and at the Hosp...ice. Once completed, the rest is taken care of. Such a simple action makes a huge difference.”
To be eligible to add Gift Aid to a donation, you must have paid income or capital gains tax that year worth at least the value of the Gift Aid being added and give the charity permission to claim it. Claiming Gift Aid on donations is easy; simply fill out a short declaration form confirming that you are a UK taxpayer. Forms are available, shops, website and from the hospice!

What can I say about St Luke's and the angels?? My grandad sadly passed away at St Luke's and I cannot praise the staff enough for everything they did. They made my grandads last week so dignified and comfortable, and also had the time to care for me and my family at the same time. The staff really are angels and no amount of thanks will ever justify my family's gratitude. Special thanks to Francesca, Jo, Yanna and the nurse in the dotty dress (whose name escapes me at the moment). We couldn't have got through the last week, and especially the last threw days, without them. Thank you St Luke's xx

We sadly lost my dad on the 29th June 2017, as a family we cannot thank St.Lukes and the amazing one response team or all the care, love and kindness they gave not only my dad but us all as a family. I have nothing but respect and gratitude and love for you all. To give something back I am doing the wing walk in memory of my dad Sam and so far have £1100 in sponsorship ❤️❤️❤️

We have just lost my beautiful nanny who spent the last week of her life in St Luke's. I can't put into words how brilliant and caring all the staff at St Luke's were and it was an absolute pleasure for my nan to spend her last few days there. A massive thank you from all of Patricia Knights family - you were all amazing and so comforting so thank you ️x x x

The people here were wonderful with my mum many moons ago but we will never forget how they looked after her when she needed them

My mother in law spent her last days here in a place she called home. We couldn’t have got through such a difficult time without the wonderful support of the staff. This really is a special place and we will forever be grateful for what you do for your patients and their families. Thank you.

My lovely husband spent nearly five weeks in the Hospice before he sadly passed away in June. We as a family cannot thank all the staff enough for all their wonderful care they gave Richard, but also the care they showed to all of us. I like to think of all the staff as our Hospice family.I will never forget you all,and will strive to help out with fund raising and awareness for all the fantastic work that goes into caring for our loved ones.

My dad was admitted to St. Luke's to receive end of life care. He was treated with compassion and dignity from the moment he entered to when he died four days later. Every single member of staff, from the consultant to the auxiliary staff, made the sad journey bearable for my whole family. We were hugged and made cups of tea; any question was answered and we were never made to feel like we were in the way. And while their main concern was ensuring the comfort of my dad it was clear that at St Luke's the wellbeing of the whole family is also a priority. I don't think we could have got through those last painful days without them. My siblings and I were accommodated over night and given pillows and blankets and TLC. The nurses are actual angels. We will be fundraising like crazy to keep this amazing facility going. Why it isn't 100% NHS funded we don't understand.

My Nan spent her last two days in St Lukes hospice and sadly passed away on Saturday. Being there meant that as a family we were able to spend precious time with her whilst the staff at the hospice looked after her and made sure she was pain free and comfortable. They were welcoming and so kind to our family, from the nurses to the Drs to the volunteers, they're all amazing and like real life angels. Thank you for helping us through a really tough time, it's helped us take some peace from the fact that Nan went peacefully at this wonderful place x

I would love to be able to thank all the carers and staff for all their support, help and assistance in relation to my mothers cancer.

My mother fought courageously through 5 rounds of chemo and other treatments in her battle against stage IV lung cancer.

Before the cancer really took hold, my mother used to attend the hospice weekly. She had a great deal of fun and always commented on the fabulous food and entertainment in craft projects etc.

Sadly as her condition deteriorated, My mother preferred home support so from then, the carers attended twice daily and it was great to be able to meet them, chat and witness the comfort they brought to my mother particularly during the last couple of weeks.

It must be tough to see people daily suffering and still be able to provide complete support in a totally dignified way to the patient and their family.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did.

Our family really appreciate the efforts in treating and caring for my mother throughout her care.

Sadly my mother Patricia, peacefully passed away on 11th May 2018.

Thank you

The second time I had to go away was when he collapsed.. Then along came s t. LUKES . They took me under their wings last May for a week. So George finally go. T his weeks rest. I cannot express into words how much my heart thanks absolutely everyone involved in IPU. My Mum was only supposed to stay a weekend but unfortunately took a turn for a worse whilst in the hospice. Mum never made it back home but she was comfortable where she was. All the nurses looked after Mum so well and I cannot thank them enough. Not only did they look after Mum but also took such great care over my sister and I who were not prepared for the events that unfolded in the week Mum was there. Nothing was to big for them, tea, toast, tissues and a shoulder to cry on. Any time of the day, they were there for us. From the bottom of my heart... Thank you. I have some comfort in the thought that Mum was happy, contented and comfortable in her final days, and was always happy to see the nurses who took such great care of her.

I cannot express into words how greatful I am to all of you guys, my Nan first came to stay earlier this year, and the work you guys do overwhelmed me, not only for caring and giving her pain relief but also making her feel so welcome and cared for, from a friendly hello to having her nails painted everyday it was such an excitement to her, sadly she deteriorated and we lost my beloved Nan to lung cancer, on the 24th of march just two days before Mother's Day, but she passed in the place she wanted to be at your hospice, because this is the place she felt her peace, she was happy, so on behalf of me and my whole family, I don't know what we would have done without any of you! Thank you so very much, your all amazing đź’–

I bought a sunflower 🌻 in memory of my niece Caroline who sadly passed away almost a year ago at the very young age of just 40. We came to the remembrance day yesterday and thought it was lovely. A real family day, very uplifting and the live music 🎶 was excellent especially their last one "Sweet Caroline". How fitting for us . My nieces parents & sisters were apprehensive about going but really enjoyed the day. Thank you St Luke's , I think we will be coming again next year ❤

I attend the day centre at the hospice which I love dearly it has helped me so much to come to terms with my illness the staff are all are so very caring and nothing is to much trouble the kindness I have been shown. They put on a wonderful Christmas show for us patients which all very much enjoyed followed by a wonderful Christmas dinner which was in lovely surroundings. I just want to THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart XXX

After attending the Christmas market last week my daughter wrote her list to Santa requesting a notepad with a wooden cover that she’d seen at the market! Couldn’t find it online!

I contacted the hospice in the hope of finding the person who ran the stool with said notebook and they managed to locate him and in doing so my 6 year old will have one more year of belief in the big man!

I would just like to say how lovely you all are at St. Luke’s and how much I really appreciate the effort you went to so that I could get this gift for her. Basildon district are so lucky to have such a place within the town and to have it filled with such wonderful, caring and dedicated staff/volunteers.

Thank you again and merry Christmas to you all xxx
